"Directly (sorry) " I have done but never get a clear answer..it seems to be one of those meaningless adjectives tossed into the profile without any real meaning

"When offering profile help and advice on the forums, I find the adjective "genuine" is used in many male profiles. Does it mean the guy is a man and not a woman? Does it mean he is sincere? Does it mean he turns up to meets? If so, then a reasonable array of veris is the only means of attesting to that Its use implies that others may not be...whatever the word "genuine" means, but then how would he know? I really don't think it has any substantial meaning at all here. Any thoughts?" nothing has meaning until you meet x

"Johnsodas second law of relativity... The amount of genuines used is inversely proportional to the amount of genuineness.. " It seems that way. It is easy to claim but is totally vacuous.

" Any thoughts?" I tend to avoid people who use the word 'genuine' - especially repeatedly. I don't really know what it means.

"I use it to describe the type of swinger I am. I'm a "genuine" swinger. I'm here for the right reasons. I enjoy sex, with multiple partners, often in group situations. I'm not here to waste my time, or anyone else's. I'm genuinely here to swing. " So is everyone else, otherwise they wouldn't be on a swinging website.

"@wasp & gordon, yes you'd think that, but I use it to distance myself from the crappy one liner single guy profiles who, in terms of fakes are not fake people....but fake swingers. profiles that are only here to waste others time. maybe I should use bona fide? would that term pass muster?" I've met a few people that have one liner or empty profiles. I've even had profiles like that myself. Trying to distance yourself in that way seems a little snobbish - as if you know the 'proper' way that swinging should be done, and they don't.

I'm not maintaining my method is the only or proper way, but it works for me. But yes, I'll admit it. When i see multitudes of guys going "what am i doing wrong/whats wrong with my profile/why can't i get meets" I'm reminded of the phrase "if you have to ask, you'll never know" It's not rocket science. If that makes me a snob, then i'm a snob.

It does have a patronising tone about it implying "I'm not like all those others" which is not very appealing, and is in most cases unverifiable just stated in a profile.

"genuine single male.. as in a single male that is not attached/married etc. just a guess.. Sometimes we've used the word genuine couple as we are real couple, not people that have hooked up as in FB's or FWB. " Yes that's a little more specific... Genuinely single male would be even clearer

I'm of the opinion that as a single guy on fab I must "not be like all the others".How often have women given that advice to men around here? That you have to stand out? And I agree. I would never want to be compared to the "i'm in ur area, fancy a fuck bbz" types. I'm not saying I'm better than them, but i'm hoping my profile is. That's my advertisement, my shop window. If your perfect fab match was in a building with no windows that had a sign outside saying "will fill this in later" would you go in? My building has windows, you can look....come in or move on. but at least you know. I'm genuine.

I agree with all that about the shop windows and the building and standing out, and the poor one-line profiles etc., etc. etc. . Others may infer that you're the real deal having read your profile. That's great. but I still don't see the need to declare you're genuine. The profile should do that.

"The more I read bona-fide the more I like it. I'm switching genuine out. reminds me of "o brother where art thou" "he's bona-fide" "he's a suitor!"" Maybe go for the unusual spelling "boner-fide" given the nature of this site

"Overused to the point of redundancy, in my opinion. Puts me off people, mostly if they say it more than once - anyone can just say they're "genuine" as if timewasters physically lack the ability to type the word. I vaguely remember turning someone down once for some reason and their reply was something like "but i'm genuine!" - as if I'd suddenly say, "oh, sorry about that! That's the secret code phrase only REAL swingers use, suddenly you're my type! Come on over!" ..)" Yes the word is believed to convey a strong clear positive message when in fact it has no meaning at all...

"Is it not better to describe yourself as a self centred charlatan whose interests are only his (or her) own ? Do me a favour. Get real all you pseudo analysts. We are all here for fun aren't we? You're not here for fun ? We're all here for fun - genuine or not so genuine!" Well yes of course we're here for fun. So what's your point?

"Not everyone on the site is here to swing or have sex; not with other people anyway, some just want a wank. From reading the forums, when men say fakes ruin it for us genuine men,I have deduced that genuine means they are who they say on their profile and they turn up when they arrange to meet. And they genuinely want to have sex,not just wank. I still don't take any notice of it on a profile. " Fakes only ruin it for themselves. If they ever do make it to an actual meet they can experience the sensation of having a door slammed in their face when they are seen to be someone other than the person on the profile. Their conduct doesn't affect me in the slightest..
