A STD check is only as good as a car's MOT.

It passed on that day but there may be underlying issues not yet materialised or something has happened since.

We wouldn't rely on what anyone told us.

Play safe as possible to minimise risks to yourself, and keep getting your checks done.

God help us if we were checked after every different sex partner !

As it is we go every six weeks .

As other posters say , people will lie .

Assume the worst in any scenario and protect yourself accordingly , or crack on and look after your own health .

We always have a record on our phones of the last test results ( clear ) if anyone wants to see it , but it's very rare they do .

I think condoms essential. Even for oral as I was informed that many STDs are contracted orally as well - what's peoples views on female dams for oral?

Lots of similar posts on this kind of topic. General consensus is that you are responsible for your own safety/health.....don't rely on what others do or say!

It would give me the impression that you have unprotected sex with those who reply that they were tested and the results were negative

It wouldn't bother us you asking but my local clinic no longer gives a text if clear... They only message you if you have an issue.

We get checked every six weeks as it wouldn't be practical or even possible to be checked after each person as we often have numerous partners in one week or even night x

We use protection for full sex but not oral as although there are still risks... Not enough for us to use condoms or dental dams x

"people lie, so no point asking"

Strange logic. Some people lie, some don't. Of those that lie, some you will spot that they are lying.

So asking improves your chances.

Not a strange logic at all. You can't always tell when people.

You don't need to always tell. Unless 100% of people convincingly lie 100% of the time then asking will help.

Trust no one. Use protection every time and eliminate as much of the risk as possible. Asking if they've been tested is a waste of time.

Well you'd eliminate as much of the risk as possible by using a condom and asking.

Nothing wrong with asking but never rely on what you are told.

It is up to you to use what protection you are comfortable with.

We would recommend going to the GUM clinic every 4 to 6 weeks if you are sexually active as regular check ups will catch anything that takes time to develop.

We would say GUM checks are simply for your own peace of mind rather than any meets peace of mind as only you know what checks the GUM clinic actually made.

Not all clinics do all checks and any meet has no way of knowing what checks you had

In your bed

Depends when you ask?

Halfway through sex may feel as though they are not keeping your attention.

Personally I'd rather be asked before meeting in the flesh. If the answer was not acceptable then I've not wasted time going to meet.

i said it comes up when arranging a meet from fab either i bring it up or they do sometimes beforehand othertimes once we're together,

Maybe it's because i mainly do private meets rather than club i don't know the science behind it lol

It's not rude to ask but I'd question why you ask? Do you use their answer to inform your decision as to whether or not to meet them or play with them?

My LHA used to do that as well as i complained to the clinc's director "it wasn't good enough etc Cos you don't know if they didnt send you a text, the costs of testing is far greater than the pennies it cost to send a negative test txt" so how can it really effect their budget. resulted in his uuuming and arrring.

Anyhows they now send a text with the results either way.

Even then I would be very very wary if even meeting them for a social. If people don't care enough about their sexual health, then I would just take care of mine and move on.

If I started a "real" relationship with a guy and wanted to bareback then I would only go ahead if we both had negative results. I have found swinging people use protection & get tested and after 4 years on the scene I've caught nothing. I think there is more likely to be higher levels of STIs outside swinging because people bareback and swap partners without thinking of the consequences.

The op question suggests he's asking people if they're tested and they are outside the swinging scene. As ever, manage your own health
