I'm sort of seeing a royal marine commando, have been seeing him every so often, probably about 7/8 times since last new year. He's based in dorset and I'm in cornwall. When he has leave he drives 6 hours to come and see me, says that he hasn't slept with anyone even when he had a week in vegas, that he really likes me but that he's so busy it's difficult to keep a relationship. I've made it clear that if he didn't want me to sleep with anyone else then I wouldn't, but I would need a relationship.

He's so honest and nice but after carpooling with a navy officer working in culdrose, who was driving to see his girlfriend in london, I'm not sure. This guy said that they usually have most weekends off, wednesday afternoons and if you're working after 12 on a friday that you've been stitched up. This has made me really doubt my marine when he says he's workimg and I don't want to because he seems nice but scared I'm being played big time. I'm really into him.

Can anyone offer an opinion on how much leave/time off commandos get and whether he's being honest?

It's true they usually get weekends off BUT they are often busy/tired/have lives etc

I know this for a fact as I have a family member that was a marine.

Regardless of that, if you don't trust him you shouldn't even think about a relationship with him.

Exactly if you want a proper relationship and hes being honest with you about not playing with anyone else then you in turn shouldnt play with anyone else ethier unless hes cool with it. Trust is the cornerstone of any relationship. None of us are experts though and only you know what you want. Marines in Scotland have the weekends off mostly and mine have plenty of holidays they can take.

Why do you care if he sees other people when you do too?

Is it that he might be lying about his time or that he might be having sex with someone else that bothers you?

Military folk do get a lot of weekends off, but some also do on call weekends, they do a tough old job and are kept busy. a lot just want down time on their weekends or to stay local. Unfortunately driving 6 hours on a Friday regularly for me would be too much and then back again on a Sunday. I wouldn't say he is playing you but if you have doubts already I would think you would have to seriously consider if its worth that, and if you became serious, would you be willing to up and move closer to him?

We don't know him, we hardly know you the only way you are going to get any useful answers on this is by talking to him. Taking to the internet to find out the future of a relationship is the modern day equivalent of casting runes and has the same usefulness.

Royals dont normally struggle with free time aside from when on guard rota, exercise or away on deployment. Free time when UK based is not normally an issue.

Sometimes I do wonder. There was 7000/8000 in the corps last time I was aware. The amount that turn up on fab or swingers websites, who are UKSF too, is unreal

Would simply ask have you been up to visit him , spent time near were he is stationed . Met some of his mates, they do tend to stick together when out on a social( piss up ). Does he show you pictures or come down in uniform . If not then would say your being played .

2. Are you sure he is actually a Marine? From the little you have said I suspect he isn't . Probably not in the forces at all. A real Mil guy ( or girl ) would be able to suss in a matter of seconds if he was fake. He is probably actually the bloke who sweeps the roads in the camp.

If I had a quid for each person I have met who has told me they are (or were) a Para, Bootie or in the SF, I would be a very rich man.

I don't know, he hasn't messaged since I said that I don't think we should hook up anymore.

Like I said, I don't really know anything about schedules and stuff in the military, he did invite me over to base though, and I've seen his room and pics in uniform and doing stuff though so he's not a fake. I'm just going to leave it now but thanks all for chipping in.

.aside from one actual marine most people in the forces i know are TA in the engineers on any night out im understanding orders if asked to say they are full time marines/paras....

If you listened to most guys in the army on a night out our army is 80% paras/marines 20% special forces :p

Fuck knows what happened to all the engineers, logistics and normal infantry

They choose to sign up, no one forces them, thats there career choice, which they are paid well for knowing how much my family members are paid that serve, why do military deserve a happy christmas yet every hard working tax payer doesn't deserve a happy Christmas.

Not read all you mail, but just think, it may be very hard to get into a relationship.

A guy may not want to commit or even want your commitment to such a relationship, is it self preservation, for both not just himself.

I Neil am not taking the male side, not ever question gets an answer, it's do you feel it's worth standing by him and waiting or not.

I grew up on army bases (Dad was Commando then attached to SAS) and served in the army myself. Learnt quite a few things. There are some honest fellas but a good 80% are world class liars.

Sounds like it just isn't meant to be.
