Is everyone aware that if anyone googles your username, they can go straight to your profile without any login!!

i found out by accident that someone I know found my username (god knows how) although he is rather smart on I.T.

This is rather worrying & hence my profile doesn't tell the entire truth.

No intention to mislead anyone on the site.

Have you set your privacy options to turn off showing search engines?

You can opt out from having your profile show on search engines on your privacy page (via "my account"). It takes a week or two to take effect.

I did this a few months ago now and my profile is no longer there but it did manage to pick up my verification on someone elses profile?

Guess they must not have their privacy turned on!

Is this sortable or do I have to ask them if they would mind changing theirs?

Mine is hidden, and has been for some time now, although I can't remember if it was set up as hidden or not.

But, it is still on google as of 30 seconds ago.

I know sites like this rely on search engines for business but I am sure there is an easy way of directing them to more anonymous versions of profiles. Unless Mr Google is a site member of course

Bloody hell.... Were on two sites we have never even seen lol..!!!

Had that years ago... Joined one site then we got mail saying they had seen us on about 3 others and we'd nver replied to mail.... Ooerr.

Anyone else had this??

Are you having much luck on the other sites pmsl

I googled ours a while back before I changed the privacy settings and we wer'nt on any other sites......im not going to look any more as if you keep checking it takes longer to come off the search engine...I think?

yes or they van type your email in aswell it gives you everything that you have joined LOL 3

I think I remember reading that Google caches stuff for up to 6 months. I think the lesson is, if you don't want people to see stuff, don't put it on your profile.

I had the privacy on from the start but have just Googled and appeared in Swingers in Quebec?page=2, Canada, along with hundreds of other Brits.

Can this be sorted please Admin?

Even more bad news... If you google an Email address it will show what sites you are on & in the case of Fab display your profile. I guess thats how my mate got my username.

My privacy was set no search engines but still displayed my profile ( from when I don't know)

Hence I'm getting a new hotmail acct, Deleting my acct on here & starting afresh with a new username.
