Silly question. Who are you buying for? Yourself or another. And if another, what sort of shape is she and what does she like?

Lingerie buying as presents is beset with problems!

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

depends on the size of the lingerie wearer to be honest.

Boux Avenue have some really nice stuff although I have found their sizing doesn't match up with other brands.

I don't rate Ann Summers at all. The quality isn't great.

Bravissimo are lovely, and often department stores like Debenhams, John Lewis and M&S have some really nice underwear.

Hmmm. Not sure then! Although I'm sure many here can help.

Good luck.

Ann summers can be alright, depends what you want you're looking for and they also have an internet shop so they can get stuff in for you, the staff in our local one are really helpful and lovely.

If you're experimenting with buying for the first time get yourself measured so you know what size to get then check out ebay, they have loads of decent priced stuff on there really cheap, a lot of it free post too and arrives fairly quickly (but christmas might cause some delay soon). Check the sizes, stuff from china tends to be 2 sizes smaller than UK sizes, so a size 14 is classed as XXL.

If you still wanna shop on the high street just pop into any shops that sell womens clothes, have a look at the underwear. There'll be at least one shop you like the look of the stuff and feel comfortable with the staff and that.

If you're looking for women's-style lingerie for yourself there are websites online that produce "women's" underwear in a men's fit. Much more elegant than trying to squeeze yourself into stuff that wasn't made for your body.

I buy a lot of clothes from eBay.

Measure yourself according to the sizing charts.

I'm slim but my pectoral muscles ensure I'm a size 16 dress.

Edinburgh.

I don't feel it's fair to have staff members deal with this in debinhams. So on the high street, no. Possibly Anne summers as their staff are thicker skinned.

Deal with what? Men selecting underwear, taking it to a till, and paying?

Blimey, I'm always buying stuff for myself in store and the staff are always great. They just take it in their stride, often suggesting other things I might like. M&S staff seem particularly good for that.

M&S are great and so are Debenhams, New Look, H&M, John Lewis....in fact any normal shop on the high street.

Staff are well trained nowadays and they won't bat an eyelid.

Everyday lingerie......M&S, tesco (F&F), asda (George), Debenhams, also try online at Amazon.....surprisingly good stuff.

For more classy lingerie, once again M&S, also Figleaves (expensive but good). For stockings and suspender belts, i heartily recommend stockingshq.....excellent quality and choice.

Nope, must be being thick.

Could you explain to me exactly what is wrong with men going to a shop, selecting some underwear, taking it to the pill, and paying for it?

How many years have men been buying lingerie for women? Most ludicrous post I have seen.. Maybe I should go and buy my milk from the corner shop as I'd hate to embarrass the staff in tesco asking for assistance!

M&S are great, i love their underwear and find it wears and washes very well and there are different price ranges to suit all pockets

I'm not sure how they would go about a guy being measured and trying it on in the female changing rooms though.

If I need to try on men's clothes in a shop (it's rare, but sometimes it happens when I need something at the last minute or if it will be a difficult fit) I simply call the shop the day before and let them know. If they know you're coming there won't be any awkward suprises. As long as you are dressed in the gender that you are trying on clothes for, it never seems to phase them.

However cross-dressers or people buying for 'recreational' purposes might not be met with the same reception. I'd personally recommend using the shops size guide (and a tape measure) to identify your likely size, buy and item in that size and then take it home to try on. If it doesn't fit, exchange it. They don't ask any questions.

for me i buy the misses stuff from ebay but most of it i order direct from china, buy like 10 different outfits for the price you pay here for one in a shop, as usually only a few pound each one, her being chinese anyway so size is ok, as usually its one size from china, quality is very good if you know where to shop.

last time i bought her something from ann summers, i paid over 150 for a outfit and a bra.
