Why lie?

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

I know that people set age filters on here, but why would you lie to get round them?

It doesn't make sense to me...

I've heard of people taking 10-15 years off their age just to get a chat. Now, I'd rather be upfront about my age and have people compliment me on not looking it, than to cut 10 years off and folk think I had the paper round from hell!

Most lies don't make sense to me but lying about your age is folly. Even if you get as far as meeting the person lying nearly always slips up one guy we met was telling us about his first lads holiday mentioning the year....if his given age was correct he would have been about 11

that's because you haven't hit the dreaded 40, 45 & 50 year filters yet. I (Dan) am actually 70 years old, use stolen pics and meet people in the dark!! Fancy a meet

A few people have actually said to me if I looked like you I would lie and say I was in my early 20s just so they could chat up 20 year olds

I think some of the younger guys are amazed that people over 40 don't all have a blue rinse and a zimmer frame.

That we look 'normal' makes them think we can't be "that old".

when I was 52 a colleague in her 20s asked me if people over 50 still had sex. I explained about the system of levers and pulleys that enables us to do it yearly

I overheard two girls at work in their early 20's talking about how gross it was to think about "old people in their 50's doing it. Eurgh, you'd think they should stop at that age"..

I wonder what their view on that will be when they're 49?

Totally agree that people shouldn't lie, but it makes sense to me.

Some people are selfish and will do anything to get what they want if they can't get it by being honest. They don't actually care what other people are looking for so will lie to them to get it. And this is the main reason.

Some people live in fantasy land, they think they're something other than what they really are and so aren't even pretending they're younger, they really think they are younger. They think age doesn't matter and so they don't have age filters on for the people they want to meet and will meet any age...this paragraph might be sarcasm.

To be fair lying about your age does little harm.

You are only going to meet and have sex if you fancied someone.

If they turn out to be 50 or 60 what is the difference?

You still liked them and had fun, your not going to marry them.

I get enough messages from guys i fancy as it is and use age filters to cut down on that amount. So yeah if i'm getting more messages because someone's a liar then i have a problem.

No point lying about who you are or why you are here but many do - however age filters do annoy me - one lady the other day was after an older man but had her age filter set so only younger men could write to her - ffs...

Taking 10 years off your age is pretty deceiving,especially when the pics are 10 years old too. A couple of years either way won't make much difference (unless your 16 pretending to be 20), and you have pics that show a true reflection of yourself.

This used to be a huge problem. People would change age, message and then change age back. It's why admin made the change so you can't just willy nilly change your age anymore. Those that change it to get round filters get stuck

we have a guy who keeps going UNLOS & rejoining to circumvent blocks who shot himself in foot, as we ask for over 48 for guys, he's 50 but says 43 on profile....! The concept of telling lies on this site, as others have said,utterly pointless.

That makes me laugh, we went to a concert after we finished O levels in 1986 and there was a couple there in 30s kissing and we ripped the piss "disgusting at your age" etc...LOL the irony now is not lost on me
