What it says on the tin... a "social" where you meet likeminded people.

Chat, drink, flirt, get to know people

Scotland - Aberdeen

A social, is just that, a chance to meet others from the site, either in a pub or a club with no expectations.

Though they are a good way to get to know people and make connections for later

We have attended socials and they have been evenings where people get to know each other socially (sorry I couldn't think of another word).

The ones we've attended have been in pubs so just like any other evening really except you can network . If you're hoping for a sort of orgy style event you're out of luck mostly

It can be anything from a night organised at a club to a small gathering at a house party. Socials are just that, a chance for us to get together, put faces to names, share experiences without pressures to indulge in sexual activity.

Most are guest listed to control numbers, message the organiser to get your names down

We don't get the "without pressures of sexual activity" as bandied around when talking about socials... Never seen any pressure to engage in sexual activity in clubs, socials seen to have all of the disadvantages of not going to a club!

Granted, maybe 'pressure' was the wrong choice of word. What I mean is that some folk want to meet with other swingers but refrain from sex activity.

And you can do that in a club, why meet in some vanilla pub where frankly the conversation may have to be somewhat stifled and maybe inappropriate for the surroundings?

We've been to organised socials in "some vanilla pub" and it was fine. Not everyone wants to pay an entry fee and the conversation wasn't stifled we all sat well away from prying ears. So my answer to that would be.....why not?

What if the pub was fully booked out, ie no prying ears?

Socials are great for newbies, the "no pressure" angle means that, unlike a club/party, they can relax knowing no-one is going to expect anything more than a chat, a drink, maybe a little flirting.

We think of them as a great night out with old friends, with the chance to make new friends.

The ones in South Wales are held in function rooms of pubs, so everyone there is a swinger, theres a door list, so things can be more relaxed, and you can, within reason, be as open as you want.

"What if the pub was fully booked out, ie no prying ears?"

The one we used to go to knew that it was a social for members of an "internet forum" and used to reserve a large corner for us. It was fun and the pub benefited from our custom.

The socials that are organised in South Wales have a good reputation

They're often held in a private function room, but are purely social, and after events sometimes include going on to Chams in Newport

Have a browse through the Wales forum and look at the social threads. Chat to the organisers and fund one that's near you

An organised social is your opportunity to meet like minded people with no expectations other than a drink and chat ...flirt and the opportunity to see if you wish to meet again...they work very well for people who don't have much time to meet as you can meet several people in one night and go from there...in all honesty I prefer the pub ones to club ones these days purely because there isn't a rush to make the most of the entry fee you paid to get into the club...even though I know many organisers get a deal for entry ...my best advice is try one of each and go with what you find more on your comfort zone...and don't be shy to mingle...

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

"What if the pub was fully booked out, ie no prying ears?"

York social books a room in a pub and lays on a buffet. Its a good night out.
