Hidden profiles

Why do some fabbers hide their profiles?

I can understand if all they want is to chat on cam or in the forums, but I was browsing through the Meets/Events board and found an interesting notice. I clicked on the username to see if I fit their criteria, but their profile was hidden.

The fabber had been on the site for over a year, so what would be the reason (apart from timewasting)?

Why is it time wasting? I hide mine every time I go off line as I don't want lots of messages. I also hide it when taking a break from the site.

It's their business at the end of the day, and certainly isn't what I would call time wasting

Everyone is free to use the site as they choose. There are many reasons that a profile may be hidden.

Some people do have some strange views as to what a time waster is. I'd say someone with a hidden profile is doing the exact opposite.

They do it because they want to and it's their profile to run how they see fit

They may have posted the meet then some life stuff came up... hid their profile to avoid getting mail, but forgot about the meet request.

choice mostly!!!! could be many reasons including taking a short break easiest thing is forget that user and move on to next one lol

Many thanks to all for the interest shown. I didn't realise that my posting would cause any controversy!

Some responses have offered suggestions which answer why people might advertise a meet and hide their profile - so I have been given some good ideas.

Just for info - I did send a message to the fabber who advertised the meet, mentioning that their profile was hidden and asking for information, - but my message was deleted unread!

I think this thread has now run its course, so thank you again to everyone who took the time to respond.

Then you appear not to be in the "some" I mentioned."

Looks that way doesn't it?! At least the rest gave an answer to the first part, ie: why do some people hide their profiles. I think now between us all the op has his answers!

You're not meeting though. The ops point was that someone posted a meet notice and when he went to respond the profile was hidden. While I wouldn't have used the 'timewaster' handle I can understand why he would be frustrated.

It could be for all sorts of reasons, many of which others have mentioned. I can't see the problem, if you're interested them message them and ask them to show their profile if they're interested in you, if not, just move on.

Ive posted a looking to meet then been completely demoralised by the response from people i have told a number of times it isn't going to happen, or numbers of people that im just not interested in.

To the point you get hassled and feel under pressure to reply , explain yourself etc,. In the end you just don't want to meet anymore and have been totally put off the idea.....I don't know maybe?
