Hiya what is the fine line between simply saying hi and writing an essay on yourself.

Reading profiles you know what to write but sometimes o feel thats just not enough to get a conversation started or is talk out-moded?

Some people like to talk and others like to get straight down to it. My advice would be to gauge what the person you're interested in prefers and adjust your message accordingly or and this is my personal preference just be yourself in messages

Just write a reasonable message and be yourself...Write to people who fit what you are looking for [and you they...]. amazing how many people appreciate a sensible message, even if they aren't interested in meeting...which is always fair enough of course

Being myself, no problem puns, puns and more puns.

Is it maybe that so many profiles are so bored of those that simply put fancy a shag that greetings just passes by?

That isn't a reasonable assumption, if people are bored of a certain message it makes the others more attractive I would think.
