Is anyone experienced with rope tying/shibari? What are your thoughts on it?

How often do you use it and how did you learn? Do you know of any classes or can you teach?

I am interested in rope but as single man it is tricky to get partners to tie. But I love it as optional extra - tying as sex play or before an impact system. Tying someone to me is more intimate than just using leather straps or chains.

I would suggest going on the previously mentione web site for peer rope london they run courses from time to time. Also for your local fetish social to meet people. The Flying Dutchman pub holds lessons every now then again under the auspices of Bound. There is also a new play space in south london but l cant remember its name. Also I would suggest don't trust anyone that won't give lessons in a recognised rope play space.

I would recommend Chantra Roses book Bondage for sex.

Finally google rope lessons or Kinbaku lessons. Kinbaku is more about tying for the purposes of restrain in comparison to Shibarri which is pretty pattens with rope.

Also MSD parties in London there is generally someone doing rope there so you may be able to see it in action.

Peer rope work shops are best and frequent too - check fet (website name) life for events and workshops - it is how I learnt

If you want to learn the Japanese art of rope, Shibari then I would suggest googling Esinem. He is very knowledgeable and runs regular small group tuition in London.

For rope for sex, peer rope workshops as suggested or try the London Fet fair LAM as it is a nice Sunday out and often have demos or tutorials on bondage etc.

Just do it. Buy some rope and do it.

Don't tie knots that can tighten on their own. Then just use your imagination.

I'm not experienced in rope (yet!) but there are a couple of fundamentals to guide you.

Check in with your partner, make sure they're not experiencing numbness in their extremities. Have something sharp nearby that can quickly cut through your rope in an emergency.

You want paramedic's shears. Not normal scissors. They cost about a fiver from eBay.

Good advice - and also beware tying across pressure points. For instance on the wrist, tie above the dip between wrist and hand where the nerves lie, sustained compression can lead to loss of sensation and nerve damage - an experienced rope top will position ropes away from these points. Master some basic knots and enjoy!

Peer Rope London can be found on a well known fetish website. There are several other rope events in London too

Ok late to this party, but....

Go for American style hog tying, not shibari, yes it looks great and is a beautiful art.

But in 5min you can have someone fully restrained when hogtied (not just the particular form).

A few quick wraps and a couple over unders and you have moved into a different phase....

Plus it's easy with a bit of practice.

Oh and buy the jakara rope, I find it slips through easier and is quite fluid.

Love rope play! It is incredibly rewarding for rigger and bunny if safety and trust arent taken lightly.

Always have scissors. Playing is the best way to discover and leave your ego out of it. Sometimes you have to undo work because it's not suitable or comfortable for the person being tied and rethink it.

Two knotty boys have a few videos on YouTube for basic safety considerations and simple ties that are easy and comfortable. Their second book is worth reading too.
