I think the answer to this question is yes (in fact, I want it to be yes), but I'd be grateful if someone can say for sure:

If you set a message filter to block a particular gender, can said gender still wink you?

Yes. Block doesn't apply to winks.

But if you wink someone I a blocked group, they can then message you.

Site must have changed it then. I've recently seen people whinging about getting winks from people who they blocked (usually men not wanting them from men).

If you have blocked a certain group they can't wink you - they can fab your pictures though

Yes it will stop them unless some has previously messaged then the new filters won't apply sadly
