Fabswingers on Mobile...

Hi,

I regularly use Fabs on my iphone on my way to work and at work.

Wonder whether we could get a iphone application? also reduce the font size of ''Fabswingers.com'' banner on the top - I sometimes get worried whether people are looking at my mobile screen.

Any suggestions and thoughts?

Thank you

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Other than a smaller heading, what other features would this "app" have other than a weblink to the site?

Central

If you use the Opera Mobile browser, you have various settings that help reduce bandwidth, such as whether to display or not display images - at whim, or even to get lower quality images : but then get the higher quality image whenever you want. It makes browsing faster and cheaper, should you pay for data, or have restrictive limits. It's a free browser, and there'a an alternative called Opera Mini, with slightly less functionality as the other, but still with image quality control/turn them (not download them in other words). Their site will inform you what will work with your phone, and I believe there's a version for iphone now too - even tho in competition with Apple's Safari. See some info here http://www.opera.com/mobile

If you use it on a pc/laptop,and you can synchronise your favourites between mobile and those.

Follow up to the above. For the iphone and blackberry it has to be Opera mini (which is excellent).

I frequently use Fabs on my iPod Touch and never had any problems with it.

From what you've said though it sounds like you launch it from Safari everytime? If so there is an easier, which is almost like having an app.

Next time you go into Fabs, from Safari, which the home page is up, you'll notice a "+" sign at the bottom of the screen. Touch this and a selection of options pops up. Choose "set as home screen" and a little icon will appear where all your other app icons appear. You can call the icon anything you want for privacy, but next time you want to launch Fabs you can just touch the icon.

Thankfully, we can live without the need to log onto the site at every available opportunity so on a scale of 1 -10, the need to log in via our mobile scores a big zero

Both of us so have to agree with that! We think it is a bit sad to have to have access to the site 24/7!!

Just be nice to chat and upload pics on your iPhone as you can do on your pc.

I don't care what people think or can see, I am over 18 and know what is right or wrong.

Read this with interest, as I'm an IT developer and do iphone apps.

Admin, IMHO I really wouldnt consider trying to create an iphone app for the site.

Getting your app accepted by Apple is a complete nightmare :-

1st - I doubt if they would accept an app for a swinging site...

2nd - if they did, then you have to supply your app to Apple for them to test.. and the rules for apps are very stringent. If your app fails there "standards" test your back to square one.

3rd - if you change anything you have to go through the whole apple testing thing all over again....

4th - 'cos its apple you can only create iphone apps on an Apple Mac - and they are expensive.

My advice would be as others have suggested here - try different browsers on your phones to see which one fits best...
