My trimmed and conditioned beard attracts positive comments and no negative ones. My OH loves the feel on her neck. If I shave it off for the summer I will grow it again in the autumn.

It's amazing how many men have got beards today and not just a fluffy stubble but full grown bush.

For me I hate having a beard as it doesn't suit me plus is so itchy when growing it annoys me.

So I am clean shaven and love the feel when I have had a fresh wet shave.

If it's a groomed beard keep it.

If you've just left its to grow trim it or take it off.

Beard over "designer stubble" anyday.

I'm regrowing mine at the minute but it's a mild pain to do it tidly so its doesn't look like a hobo beard.

I let it grow then trimmed down to 3 mil and tidied it up.

Then again with a 6 mil trim.

getting ready for the 9 mil trim now and will probably stop there.

I have one because everybody tells me it suits me and I have a baby face so as a 31 year old man getting ID'd for fags without it it gets irritating.

Plus I had it before it became fashion so I'm not removing it for the sake of non conformity

Having said that, i just shaved a full beard off, that i'd been growing for a good few weeks.....it's growth seemed to be linked to the amount of protests received from angel , but we had a meet last nite, so off it came......turns out it didn't have to, our friend would have been quite happy for me to have left it on

My OH has a beard and has done since he left the army many years ago....he is not allowed to shave it off because I love it - it rubs me just right so it stays

We have ony had one woman say she didn't like it in our 19 months on here and at parties women flock round him stroking it and asking how it feels - he shows them because it would be rude not to

I say keep it if you like it and it suits you but if you aren't fussed then go with what the masses say

Not a fan of the face fur, even though it really suits some people. Was seeing a fella years ago who had a beard, shaved it off & I didn't fancy him afterwards. He suited it. However clean shaved, well groomed, immaculate look will always be in & to heck with the current fashion.

Difficult to tell if the OP suits facial fur with no pic or comparison but I'd say shave it off.

"Have had a beard in one form or another for the last 14 years and had no problems with meets.

That said I look after mine and keep it fairly short and tidy - my friend just has uncontrolled face fur and has been single for the same length of time...

However - I do keep other places shaved so maybe it balances out! "

How old is he, does he smoke, is he tall?

Lots of judgemental people commenting here. If you don't like a beard that's fine. Seems silly to start ranting about them.

They are way past the so called fad now. I know as I'm involved in the industry.

Also the 50's haircuts are trend? What about all the rocker billies that have had those and beards, are they following the so called trend.

Beards are more noticed but comparing the ratio of shaven men to full bearded men there are still probably billions more shaven men. Leave the beards to be bearded, it's different not a fashion.

"After much debate I shaved it off a couple of weeks back before I hit the beach. Now have a nice all over tan and no white marks on my face. Proving very popular at the moment though I suspect if this weather keeps up like this much longer then I will be growing it back!"

The beard is making a comeback. Started growing it 6 days ago and will keep it better groomed and moisturised.

I may even be longest in the shower!

Whatever makes you feel good! For me personally I don't like them (a little stubble is fine) but as long as you're happy with the way you look that's all that matters! I'm sure you and your wife can meet half way somehow? X

Well, having a beard got us into all this. I went a few days without shaving and mentioned that I ought to have a shave. N said that it was like having a different man - and this kind of gave me licence to behave in a far more outrageous manner - I became an alter-ego, if you will. I even acquired an alter-ego name - Alex (my middle name).

So, wind on a few weeks and my real identity and alter-ego are merging. But, I don't think we'd have ever made the first step without Alex being on the scene.

So, for us, a beard got us involved in the first place. I'm currently sporting 3 days of stubble but it'll go tomorrow morning.

"

I have one because everybody tells me it suits me and I have a baby face so as a 31 year old man getting ID'd for fags without it it gets irritating.

Plus I had it before it became fashion so I'm not removing it for the sake of non conformity "

It does suit you. And well said.

Quite glad the trend is on its way out, I've had a full beard for at least 10 years and I'm quite bored of people thinking I've grown it recently to be in fashion.

"not a huge fan of beards, they're ok if I don't have to kiss."

And where is the fun then?

A short beard would it be suitable for kissing instead...?

Ask yourself this.

Do you want to look like a prepubescent boy or not?

Seriously, for all the people put off by the beard, there are an equal amount turned on by the beard... Do whatever you feel like, it's your face.

I am for beards myself.

Why don't you compromise by varying the length throughout the year? Longer during the winter, shorter if not smooth during the summer and long stubble the rest of the year?

Also keeps the shaving ritual varied haha

If soft and trimmed go for it. But then again, you have to listen to your lady it might look good on your but stubby and uncomfortable when playing with you lady it's definitely a no no.
