circumcision HELP!

i was "cut" friday just gone but now really need some advice from someone thats had it done. How long should my dissolveable stitches stay in for before dissolving and what would you recommend in regards to showering/bathing

Ring the nurse .. you would have been given all this info before discharge. fone them and ask what they said again..

Was only 6 months old when had mine done and the rabbi as passed on so can't ask him but don't think I had stichers

I was about 4 when I had it done so don't really remember a great deal - other than I was incredibly sore for a while after.

Have you tried google? or NHS Direct?

But as others have said, why not talk to the medical professionals that were actually involved with your op, or even your GP.

Same here I was around 5 and holy fuck was it sore just remember having a fan pointed at my cock constantly. Cold water washes and soft bedding. Laying on my back etc. Good luck.

I was 4 or 5 when I had mine done, so only have broken memories of it. Sorry I can of any help.

Ouch..thank heavens I was 3 when I was done. Id seriously hound the hospital for help as you wouldnt want a secondary infection.

(R (male)) - when I had to be circumcised in my mid-20's, it was 12 days before I shagged again - met a new girlfriend. Sung some pretty high notes in the first days.

The healing process could be seen - the severed skin bonding together - until complete closure of the "wound". Over months and years, the blood-vessels grow back and span the joint, etc.

Don't know if recovery time has changed with modern techniques.

When my lads were done the stitches dissolved sfter two weeks. Daily salt / dettol baths.

Main thing is to have a cotton pad between your penis and underwear. When the wound sticks to underwear it is sore to remove whereas cotton wool is easy

Oh god, I remember those baths, just! I hated them, at round 5yo, I can remember crying alot!

Just chatting with a mate who was circumcised later in life. He reckoned that the worst moment is when your first erection beckons. He tried everything to force it to deflate, scared in case the stitches split

I had it down in my early 40s. I was off work for ten days and found it incredibly uncomfortable. Like any surgery long as it is healing ok you just have to be patient.

I certainly had zero interest in sex for 6 weeks after. But assuming you had it down to deal with a tight fore skin once things do recover sex is far more comfortable.

Keep taking regular warm baths and the stitches will come out when it feels right, only you will know when that is. The stitches will loosen the more baths you take to the point where they can easily be pulled off with a little help. Good luck

Be very carefule, many on here are advocating baths but with most sugeries you should avoid baths until the wound has healed as it introduces infection.

Check with the hospital which carried out the procedure or with your GP

Well the stitches kind of only dissolve in water so it's kind of the only way of getting them off? Also not bathing regularly would cause more risk of infection

I would've thought, like any stitches (my only experience is an episiotomy), wash regularly but only with clear running water.

No baths, no soap, no rough or abrasive sponges, etc.

And I would seriously phone the practice who did the proceedure and ask them. You should've asked for clarification when you were told different things by different people.

Yep get some proper advice from the hospital - mine was done a few years ago when I was 38 and was a two week job in respect of healing and not really any additional pain.

Friend sent me a card about 'seeing me in the pink soon' which was nice.
