So me and the wife love clubs and used to meet lots of couples at them, but over last year or so we tend to play a lot less with others.

A lot of this comes down to fact I simpl had no clue what folk were saying a lot of the time and think this may have come across as stand offish or unintrested

I'm pretty sure folk are interested in wiggles and while I'm not pretty I'm not that fuggly :p

I now have hearing aids, but worry if I wear them to a club, will they put folk off.

They are rather expensive. Mine are small black ones that go behind the ear. They are quite small but have only had them for three days so tad subconscious about them.

I have scarring in my ears from numerous ear infections, my left one is the worst and if i lie on my right side, I can't hear fuck all!

People don't notice them. A friend has them in both ears and they're black, nobody notice them

I don't think that they would put anyone off. I'm sure that wearing them, and being able to get involved in the social aspect will make you much more attractive than not wearing them, and not being able to join in the conversation. Good luck getting back into the Swing of it

I am the same I have aids that do help and are almost invisible but do occasionally get noticed , I often tell peeps from the start I cant hear which helps as they understand straight away,

as you say the problem is remembering to take them out in the hot tub

One of my friends has two hearing aids,they are small but he takes them off when we have sex because I knock them off with my hands. I just tap him if he's not looking at me when I want to talk to him.

when you first wear then they irritate your ears to start with, but main reason is your head is filled with sounds you have forgot, everything is louder but mainly you can hear more background noises , washing machine motors humming, you can hear your clothes rustle when you move and your footsteps ect ,

when you take them out the world seems a lot quieter and peacefull

I have 2 hearing aids but can get away with 1 I can't do without them

But at 1st hard to adjust to the hearing world

But do have to remove during sex as bloody things ring like hell lol

But new lease of life for you op had mine 15 years now x

wife is deaf and has been all her life so she lip reads when at a club as she thinks she could lose her aids in the club of she wore them

It wouldnt bother me/us at all.

My dad and his sister are profoundly deaf, have been since birth and my sister is, although not as much.

Personally, I would rather someone tell me they are deaf or if they are not wearing an aid, so that I can adjust how I speak to them. Such as face on so they might lip-read or enunciate more clearly. I can basic sign too. Deafness is should never be a barrier.

They take a while to get used to,my mum said she was amazed which sounds really drove her mad and hurt her ears so your crisp packet and spanking comment made me smile

Hearing aids wouldn't make a difference to me if I even noticed anyone was wearing them

I lost my hearing in my right ear cos of a tumor, so everything was on the other side, now have a bone anchored hearing aid, much better now, but the aid just looks a bit silly stuck on the side of my head, not really discreet lol

Wouldn't stop us from talking or playing with anyone who has a hearing impediment. It's down to if we click or not.

I'm partially deaf. Not really an issue if I'm concentrating but I do have a tendency to pretend I heard you and make the gesture or verbal response I feel is most appropriate. I'm a lot more careful after I consented to a surprise MMF and had to quickly say no!

I wear heating aids. Never been a problem, though wet based clubs are not the best option as I either risk frying them or can't hear people.

That's wise. I'd be scared of losing them in a club to honest. They weren't cheap. I've been deaf since I was 2 so I don't even realise I'm doing the pretend to hear you thing until things go awry. It's frustrating for people who don't know me but my friends don't notice anymore either.

Problem is when we go out its generally to a wet club and I take them out.

I then walk around with mostly no clue what folk are saying, add this to my ability to be prety oblivious to if a female actually finds me attractive and it becomes a case of i only knownwhats going on if wiggles tells me.

I know straight away if a fella likes wiggles, but find it a lot harder now to gage if the female half likes me or is just tagging along so her partner gets wiggles.

On the bright side it does lead to some comical misunderstandings

I'm a diabetic and wear an insulin pump, i do take it off at times but if it's for a long time I feel ill. We are adults, and I would expect anyone we are enjoying the company of wouldn't make an issue out of it

I guarantee you once you get hearing aids your life will change. You won't believe what you miss out on. After all it's the same as wearing glasses to aid your sight. Hearing aids are so small now - even over the ear ones - hardly anyone notices.

My mum has hearing aids and the difference is like night and day. When she has them out she cant hear a thing. Even if i was sitting right next to her. It would never put me off someone if they have a hearing loss. She also has a hearing dog who is the most amazing dog ever!!!

Soon as I put hearing aids in, it was indeed amazzing to see how much I was missing.. suddenly things like papper had a sound and so many background sounds.

Unfortunately they are useless in most of the clubs I went to, as they were wet clubs.

I've worn hearing aids since birth (profoundly deaf). I go to one club which doesn't play the music too loud and I can hear what (most) people are saying. I miss bits but no more than normal.

Its just normal to ask people to repeat themselves (but not too often).

Does get tedious to always keep asking for people to repeat themselves.

At the end of the day, if a person isn't willing to put in the same amount of effort as me, or at the very least their very level best. It isn't worth my time or energy. Harsh perhaps, but my energy and time is precious to me.

I had an odd day yesterday, where I had fun telling folk to politely speak up.

These were people like the receptionist at doctors or the staff in spec savers, since I was asking about hearing aids.

After all if you are going to work in a face to face position with the public,mine should be able to speak up, not constantly mumble or whimper.

Alway been a bug for me. Going to the Audiology department at the hospital, then someone comes out and calls for the person to be seen.

I'm deaf, how can I hear you if you're calling from behind me. some audiology depts are now putting screens up so people can see when they're being called

I am deaf, just sign actually, always a problem though when people talk to me and they think I am being snobbish/rude/or something, only after people get to know me do they realise I can't talk, just my little rant!

Pray tell why should we 'must be able to accommodate of course' if the offer is totally genuine? I'm just playing devils advocate. I have hearing aids. The NHS didn't feel the need to request sexual favours
