Not my type

Why do many men ask "what is your type?" when I have responded "thanks for your message but i'm afraid you're not my type" as a polite way of saying no thanks. It's obvious i'm not interested so why would me describing my type help them? Just because they're not for me doesn't mean every woman will say the same to them. They might be someone's perfect cup of tea. Also, I don't really have a type - I just fancy someone or I don't!

They'll attempt to find the tiniest reason as to why they -might- be a teency bit, that type

Honestly though? It is probably just the fantasising aspect they want to fulfill. If the opportunity passes, they may cling on to the idea of it all. Nonsense 'sexy' chats and all.

You're totally fine in being annoyed by it... It's totally annoying. They should just be pleased you've even replied just to say "no thanks"

I have been on conventional dating sites where I met my man...it then seemed to be accepted but on here there is a certain amount of returned aggression which comes from being upfront (and polite enough) to give a thanks but no thanks. I thought skins might be thicker on here

I actually had that on my profile a while ago, that i don't have a type but if i fancy you i will talk to you, because guys were asking what my type was.

Don't know why they ask. Think it's so they can continue conversation with you and try to convince you to change your mind. Just block them.

I used to get that but I now thank them for their message and tell them I'm not interested. I don't get a response after that, unless it's to thank me for answering

I just say no thank you as I don't have a type either. If a man has miserable looking photos or features I don't find appealing it's a no thank you

Perhaps prepared to have plastic surgery etc in a desparate attempt to meet...lol

Or lacking in IQ/common-sense?

A "not my type" is a nice letdown methinks

We had a really nice one from a woman last week.

We just replied with a thanks for letting us know and have a great weekend...(then blocked so as not to bother her anymore)....easy peasy

Some can't take a hint I'm afraid

Just say men that don't ask what my type is are my type I don't see why guys ask as to me it would be clear they don't fancy me. Just don't reply, you've said your bit, end of.

I even have this written on my profile and they STILL ask. Some guys just can't take "no" for an answer. This makes it even clearer to me that they're not my type.

Because some men think, that simply by replying they can now engage you in email chat - it makes them feel good to get a response to message, even if it's clearly a 'thanks but no thanks'. Desperation basically.

Us: Thanks for the message but we would not be interested.

Them: why?

Us: Because your not what we are looking for.

Them: What are you looking for?

Us: Thats not important but happy swinging!

Them: Well maybe I can help you find it?

Is it any wonder people don't answer and just block.

Exactly - see my last post above. Just having you talk to them makes them feel wanted. It sounds awful but there a lot of desperate people on a site like this.

I'm just glad for the reply. My standard response is "no problem, have fun!"

No point in being arsey about it! You never know, one day I might get the reply

"congratulations! You weren't a knob about it, you passed my first filter. Now get yer arse here and get your kit off"

It's got to the stage where we compliment people who take it well and make us laugh!

As you say no point being an arse about it. As you never now they may change their mind.

Maybe some people are so used to having their messages ignored even a no thanks response is a positive, and so they try to keep the connection going.

It's perfectly acceptable to not fancy everyone.I have on my profile that if I say no thanks I then add it to their private notes, that way when send the same message again in the next generic copy and paste mailshots I report it as spam. Problem solved. Had half as many timewasters lol x

Brighton - even Hove!

Don't bother replying at all. If you don't fancy them or don't want to chat, just block them. Perfectly acceptable in the Fab FAQ, easy and no hassle.

This. And of course.

In sales management they often say any response, even negative, is a response and should be followed up. The only no response is 'no response'.

GIRLS, if you're not interested the best response is no response, anything else is definitely going to get a reply from most guys, the only question is how nice that reply may be.

I don't think it's always about being desperate. Some might just see it as part of the chase. After all in real world you sometimes get a knock back on first approach but things then work out later.

And just to be clear. I myself always reply to any message from a female or couple regardless. Even if just to say 'thanks for the reply' even though I'd personally prefer to be ignored than have 'thanks, but no thanks' messages fill my inbox
