Finding some fun in Amsterdam

What clubs are around the centre of Amsterdam or pubs that are used to pick like minded peeps up??

Any advice appreciated second time for us to Amsterdam last year we got let down but was hoping we would meet up with like minded people this year even if only for drinks.

The nearest to the centre is Sameplace...Followed by Club Paradise...

We went to Paradise, it was very quiet, dirty, unfriendly, smelly, very few couples and a lot of single blokes following around like sheep. Showboat was busy, friendly, lots of play and altogether a much nicer place. The only downside to Showboat is it's about a 20 minute taxi ride out of central Dam but we used the taxi driver whose phone number was on their website, he was really friendly - even took on a short site seeing detour - was on time to take us home and very reasonable charges.
