Feeling alone at Christmas

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

So after raising my family, they have now all flown the nest and making their own families and I face the prospect of Christmas day alone, something I am not looking forward to at all !

Anyone else had Christmas day alone and any tips to stop me drinking myself into a blubbering mess sat in front of the television?

Have they not invited you to theirs?

I'm on my own, not my first one alone. Kinda used to it now. No tips, apart from you're not the only one. X

Ive spent a few alone, mostly when my other half goes to see parents abroad. Personally I love it but the best advice is not to wallow in it, just have a normal day.

Just me and the cat here as well, I actually love it on my own.

I have heaps of food and drink in. I can get up when I want, eat what and when I want, watch what I want, so my best advise is to try and enjoy it, it's not the end of the world being on your on

Well strictly speaking I wont be on my own cos I'll be with family for the 3rd year in a row. But I do miss waking up to somebody special on Christmas day and spoiling them. But hey ho. The rest of the year I enjoy being single. X

I had a good few Christmas days alone. Tips…think of what you have got rather than what you haven't, find a good film and get lost in it and think of all the trouble you can get yourself into in 2015! xx

I spent last Christmas on my own. As I'd been working lots, I was happy to have a lazy day in front of the TV. It was bliss!

Shame we are not nearer - I am not alone but an hour or two out is always welcomed for the right person.

You have a restful, quiet and well-earned day.

Lots of festive hugs

Go and volunteer at your local homeless shelter and see them smile when you give them a hot meal and a bed for night. That will leave you feeling very full filling

I've had many a Christmas alone. Even with friends I still feel alone. All I try to remember is its just one day and be positive which isn't easy. I'm not in work. I got myself gifts.

I feel better already!

I hope everyone has a good day.

LOL Paul x (for the ladies, manly hug for gents!)

That's a great idea but remember it's not just Xmas day they need volunteers

Crisis run Day and residential centres in various locations all over the holiday period and are always looking for help

I decided to go to work for a few hours this morning, I was dreading the morning the most, now I'm home, nice hot bath with my smelly's and candles

(Christmas present) then a little tipple and some lunch without the prospect of all that washing up lol

Merry Chrismas everyone xxx
