I have no problem with this, nor should any genuine, single guy. The (growing?) problem seems to be the number of dreamers and fantasists on the site.

I do quite often find that when I offer to travel...then that breaks the ice and, as often ad not, they/she will travel to me anyway.

Good luck in your search anyway......plenty of us decent guys out there too!

We would happily travel for the right single guy, if he could accommodate. But most cannot.

Most single guys we have come across do not even want to have drinks or get to know us.

. I nearly always travel and sometimes meet for a drink first , if not straight to the house. An effort is made to be clean tidy and presentable..

Both parties should be expected to show equal effort.........give and take.......a chap ought to make the effort when meeting with anyone, be they single or a couple, but that said, the person or persons should be happy to go out of their way for the chap too.....

Same as any friendship or human relationship, if one half feels they're making more effort than the other it becomes un balancedand thats never good.

I do think it's quite possible to filter out dreams at quite an early stage.

Me too, sadly! The vast majority of my meets now are at clubs and parties - though I intend to meet some guys from the forums in 2015 - when you chat to people over months on the forums they already feel like good ftiends! xx

I have to say I've never had any problems with the single men I've met. Most have come to my house after the first social meet although I've visited a few at their house or hotels too.

It's catch 22 with so many people saying they have been let down. Most men I meet now come to me and pick me up or get a hotel near me as I don't drive. I know I wouldn't be a no show,they have to trust me and if they get cold feet or are messing me around I haven't lost anything. If I drove it would be a different matter

Usually for me, a social before a meet is the norm. Having said that I have been invited round to play straight away and also straight after a social. So no, it's not wrong to expect them to travel, meet socially and then be invited back.

Having said that, I guess I would be a bit peeved if I had travelled many miles, only to be told I'm not compatible. So maybe the question depends on how far they are prepared to travel, for what may just be a drink in a pub? At least it would be a night out!

See that I don't mind at all doing but as you say based on trust which lot of people in my opinion forget to or ignore the fact try to build up they just try to go straight to the play

Would depend how far you expect folk to travel as long as its made clear from outset its just a social and no chance of play then yes i agree but if you dangle the carrot of possible play on first meet then you run the risk of folk making assumptions.

There's a guy who has numerous profiles on here on a month off a month etc and constantly sends the same message each time to as many women as possible just looking for a quick shag. Shame really as there are some decent guys out there but some spoil it for everyone else x

I totally agree. I think the number of spam/offencive/stupid messages flying around makes it much harder for normal, genuine guys to stand out, and is a huge time waste.

This is the right way. Cold invites to a stranger into your home is not good. In a bar you can assess the social skills and if they are clean and tidy!

If you don't click better to sort then rather than in your home.

I think its out of hand to EXPECT them to travel to you, why can the travelling not be shared and meet somewhere convenient for all? However you will get a lot of men desperate enough to jump through all sorts of hoops.

I will travel and have done but every time its been to there place and have a brew if its not gonna happen we just have a social but ill only travel within 30 miles from where i live.

Im genuine and respectful but have met people at coffee shops as prefare instead of a pub

I've had messages from guys who are miles away, 90 minutes or more. I always refuse to meet them for a social or anything else, as I would feel bad saying no to them if they had travelled a long way. There are always people nearer, and it makes me wonder why they need to contact me when they are so far away?

My regular friend travels up from Glasgow and someone I met originally at a social I travelled to drove for 6 hours for an overnight meet.

Sometimes you need to travel to meet the people you want.

I've never had a problem getting guys to travel to me and book a hotel (I pay half I just don't book) I'm very upfront about the way I meet within a couple if messages so if it doesn't suit them we don't normally bother chatting anymore. it's not an issue.

Phone sex? I thought that's a mutual thing? I'd just hang up if I think things are going that way. I think having a chat with someone (online, and then maybe on the phone) clears out the picture, makes each other understand if it's just timewasting or real.

Phone call works for me and not once has it descended into phone sex. I think you just need to be able to apply a bit if common sense to sniff out the fantasists.

Oh I have no problem with common sense. I can smell BS a mile off. I totally recognise the fantasists and am never let down. They just don't turn up despite 'yes I'll definitely be there' I'm waiting for the day all 5 of them actually all turn up. Could be fun.

I am always happy to travel, and am happy to meet either at someone's home, hotel or public place.

My only bugbear is, if we're gonna meet in a pub, at least select a nice one! I hate going into grimy pubs with sticky floors and one old bloke with 3 teeth propping up the bar. It doesn't send a good impression either

I prefer a first meet to be in a neutral location, where there are loads of other people around.

A coffee somewhere is preferable - I've had social meets in the pub when I have been driving and I've stayed on soft drinks, but watching someone descend into being pissed over the course of an evening is unattractive... a slurred chat at the end of an evening is never going to lead to another meet.

I don't expect anyone to travel to me for a start. Social somewhere neutral, and then we both agree where it will be from there. I am happy to travel to theirs or make arrangements. I do not often meet at home as I stay in a small village.

You say zero effort on their part, but is it not zero effort on your part if you expect them to do all the travelling. Women and couples on here think that single guys are just a commodity and they are doing the guys a favour by agreeing to meet. Meets should be for equal pleasure and the location should be discussed as to which is the most convenient etc. I would see it as more polite for the couple to make the effort as they have each other for moral support whereas a single guy may feel a little apprehensive.

Plus couples are always saying guys didn't show up, if they are offering you to come to them, there is no chance if a no show (unless its a wrong address lol).

I make it clear in my profile that I won't travel more than 30 mins for an initial social nor expect anyone else to travel any further whether they're willing to or not...if they're within half an hour of Arse End, I'll meet them at my local, if an hour north, there's a nice pub at Ravenglass I use and if an hour south, there's one near to Ulverston...if we both click, then we head back to mine. This works for me

I think it's mad that a single guy expects the female to travel etc, surely the lady holds all the cards that the Single Pringle is on this site to enjoy, so why on earth wouldn't the guy expect to travel? I certainly would, even if nothing happens after the social, at least you've got away from your single, boring life for 1 evening and at least met someone and chatted (hopefully!)

No its you being quite correct and proper when meeting anyone. My view is a social meeting should take place first in order for all to acquaint and decide if matters would be taken further. Common sense always prevails!

I have arranged to meet a couple before booked the hotel traveled to the hotel for them not to show up

I have made expensive taxi journeys to couples who house ps have looked like skips

I have travelled a good few miles on a train to meet a single woman who was a guy really

I have travelled to a hotel to be greeted by two gay men no woman insight

Now it phone call and a drink or face to face chat before anything.

Ah dreamers and fantasists aplenty. That's why I only meet in clubs now. Lost count of the number of fantasists that have said they'd meet.

Me too, sadly! The vast majority of my meets now are at clubs and parties - though I intend to meet some guys from the forums in 2015 - when you chat to people over months on the forums they already feel like good ftiends! xx"

If someone was to reply to me with an invite, I would expect to travel to them and meet on their terms and see what happens. If they cannot be bothered then I would not meet.

Really??? And what about those who have to house share? Those single dads whose kids visit regularly and those that live with families??? I can now Accomodate but it hasn't always been so easy and I was still a genuine single male. People presume far too much on here!!!
