If I turn this off does this mean no1 will be able to see me either?

No. It's only useful for mobile users and it's there to let users know who is on mobile and nearby at any given moment.

For example, if someone from Scotland is visiting London and is logged on to fab with their mobile, they will show up in 'who's near' for anyone in Londin - but won't show in a standard search

Ok cool so I can't stop people seeing that near? It's purely a tool to see who's around me
