And it doesn't have to have anything to do with gay. Just substitute dominant for top and submissive for bottom

Yes, its nothing to do with any particular sexual orientation.

But being a Dom or Domme means rather more than just being a Top, and same for Sub and Bottom. Perhaps Top & Bottom should be regarded as play roles only...?? Whereas Dom/Domme and Sub are more Lifestyles...?? YMMV.
