Oral sex and STI's

Jump to newest

I recently went for a routine STI check (all clear and am happy to say) and the nurse that did it was talking about the dangers of oral sex.

While appreciate that any exchange of bodily fluid runs a risk, non protected oral sex does seem to be much more accepted within the swinging society.

My question is this - how many people on this site can put an STI that they have picked up down to oral sex.

I cant believe that it is any less risky than other forms of non protected sex.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I just make sure they do throat swabs when I get tested. If others feel they wish to use protection while doing oral then that's fine. I have weighed the risks vs the rank taste of condoms and made my decision.

Condoms taste disgusting. End of. That and strangely I like the taste of cock in my mouth. . I just make sure I get checked often enough and that includes mouth swabs

I was told if the guy does not cum in your mouth the risks are very low

In our time on fab we have either been very lucky , or perhaps the fact that a monthly visit to the gum clinic may have helped , but we have had no sti's . And would never dream of performing , or receiving , protected oral .

We would rather not have a meet if there was an insistence on protected oral , and have turned meets down for this reason .

Other than for herpes simplex, chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, human papilloma virus , molluscum contagiosum, HIV and hepatitis A, B & C the risks are very low.

I ( mrs ) do oral sex without condoms. I don't have anyone but Mr come in my mouth ( which I swallow every drop!)

Still a risk when playing yes, but regular visits to the Gum clinic , with throat swabs included helps me make that informed decision to continue how I do.

Oral sex with a condom? I would rather go without and refrain from the awfull condom breath too ... To date... Never had a possitive result from a clinic , from any tests I have had. Complacent is something I am not either tho. We both take our sexual health seriously.

"

It is a much lesser risk than unprotected anal or vaginal. Anal being higher risk

No one if any are going to admit to it if they had.. The % must be very low though.. Myself and several of my very greedy companions who always do oral without and have never had a positive test result yet.. Could be just luck but the amount we have had.. If someone is/ was going to catch something it would be us and we haven't ( yet! )

"molluscum contagiosum

Wha??"

If you shave apparently you can get little slugs around your pubes. Apparently they prefer shaven havens to pubes because it's easier to slime around.

I rememberer several years ago, a young girl admitting in forums that she'd contracted some STD. I think it was herpes. What should have been an educational thread turned into something quite horrid for the girl concerned. It wasn't nice reading.

Anyway I'm all for raising awareness. I visit GUM a few times a year, however I'm not aware any of my sexual partners do

I got gonorrhea from unprotected oral. It does happen. No symptoms either and no idea who it came from.

Yep. This always makes me smile and the way that protected oral is almost looked down on. There have been posts from women in the past who had oral gonorrhea so it is very possible to catch something this way.

Like anything you have to weigh up your risks. Get tested regularly, get a hep b jab and choose if oral without is for u.

I've always been lucky and not contracted anything but I know that it could happen I do oral without but I don't usually let men cum in my mouth, it does reduce the risk quite dramatically and I'll continue 3 monthly checks and choose to take the risk

Ok gum clinic?

This is a new word for us.

How does one go about getting tested and what should you say when they ask why you need testing?

Make an appointment (so you don't have to wait with the drop ins), then get in and tell them you swing and ask for the full works. That's all you have to do.

no not at all , you just need check opening times, see if it is a walk in clinic or need an appointment to attend.Just be open and honest. Let them know you swing.. They also privide free condoms . Is all very matter if fact these days and with less stigma than the old 'Clap clinics'
