Safe with condoms will always be safer. If you do genuinely go to GUM yourself id advise you pose the question to them. I've never heard any health professional suggest otherwise.

I'm just observing your method is reactive. How can you ever know you are disease free if you play regular and without protection. Because it takes 3 months of no exposure from the last risk you take to establish a true result - for HIV anyway.

The answer to your question is yes it is slightly safer.

All sex is risky even with a long term partner who never cheats on you.

But some sex carries more risks than others.

I a very few cases bareback could carry fewer risks than safe sex, but only if the partner did not indulge in sex at other times.

In the same way safe sex could be very risky if the condom failed.

It is a matter of being aware of the risks (not only to the active participants but to their partners as well) and choosing how much risk is acceptable to all those involved.

You will never know if someone has been checked or not, you're taking their word for it.

Even if someone has been tested if they have had sex after the test, the test proves nothing, it tests only at that moment in time.

If you tell the GUM clinic that you have multiple partners and play safe, they still test you! So they must think that even wearing a condom is not completely safe!

Best way it to get your self tested and that way you know your own sexual health and if you do catch something early treatment is always the best option.

Best to stay as safe as possible in this day and age.....maybe...and i obly say maybe...if its an ongoing arrangement with a close friend and valued trust (yes there are some trusting friends in life) then maybe take it further...as you would more than likely with your long term partner in life........but to totally contradict what i just said then we all know that keeping yourself safe and your partners is more sensible...and thats gotta be a good thing

I know it's each to their own but I find it very worrying the amount of people who will play bareback. A few hours of fun can lead to some very nasty and sometimes life threatening diseases.

It really isn't worth it for me putting myself, my partner and those I meet at risk. Someone who says they are clean could contract something from that one person they have met since their check up. As someone mentioned earlier HIV can take up to 3 months.

As much as I love the feeling of having sex without a condom I would only do it with my partner and no one else. That also means no cum in my mouth either as that's also a big risk. I want to enjoy my life and have fun and I can still do it with condoms!

Someone raised the good point that for sex in the pool you have to bare. Personally we only pool swap with a regular trusted friend. Same goes for hot tub. On the rooms it's condoms for all.
