Hi guys.

So we've been on here all of 2 weeks! (Long eh!) we have spoken with a few people and had some lovely messages.

Unfortunately as I'm sure your aware the learning curve is quiet a steep one on here.

My question to you all is How do you spot a fake profile?

Weve fallen foul a few times this week already. It's difficult eh as we don't want to give anything away to the wrong people.

Any hints tips and advice from out fellow fab friends would be gratefully received!!!

Don't talk to unverified profiles, request to talk on phone or Web cam. I know I am not verified my self, I am on the site mainly for the forums not desperate to meet good luck

If your worried get them on live webcam here in chat room and chat on the phone its the only real way of getting to see who your chatting too.

I'm not sure you can ever be 100% sure that a profile is fake so I use a ing out process.

Tiny eye images if I'm unsure.

Chat via here first. No sex talk. No giving out number etc.

Swap face pics. If I'm talking to a couple them I like to see them in a pic together.

Arrange for a social meet only first (this puts a lot of people off)

Insist that I chat to the fem via phone before the social.

To be honest, most of the time I go by instinct which is normally lead by the quality of (non sexual) conversation.

I think if people are verified then at least someone has seen them so you should be able to tell from what the veri says if they were one or two people.

We personally meet with people who have a few recent veris just so we know they are real but the main thing we do is message them. You get a good feel for people, how they work and what they want by chatting.

We don't personally do cam/phone chat before a meet but only because I am a complete dope and would come across like and idiot on the phone but I know a lot of people do.

Some people do social meets in pubs or costa etc so they can decide if the people are like their pics before they go any further.

It takes time but you will get there, just do everything in your own time and you will have lots of fun

Any messages that go straight to sex, what are you going to wear, what are you going to do to me, how do you like to... are very unlikely to meet.

Look for meet veris, social or play, you can look to see if those profiles are veried.

You can ask to have a quick chat on cam in the chat rooms or skype.

Basically anything that looks too good to be true quite often is.

I do all of this and it serves me well. The sex talk thing is a big giveaway. It says that the person likes fantasy but unlikely to show for the reality.

Doesn't necessarily mean the profile is fake. It could be the person in the pics, and they could be verified. But then no one leaves a verification for no shows. Just bear that in mind.

You're in Plymouth.

There are dozens of local profiles with multiple verifications (meet not cam) in your area. Try focussing on them rather than long term, vague, unverified profiles.

Simple, effective and you're pretty much guaranteed they are real!

Look at their verifications as well, they often give a fair indication of the person.

A genuine Fabber would also be happy to send face pictures pretty quickly.

Your very best tool is your instinks, trust them and don't be afraid to as questions if something doesn't feel right.

Bare in mind that not everyone will do phone/webcam before a meet. We won't I hate speaking to people on the phone and we don't have the facility to cam. We usually want people to garb lots if veris or be photo and meet verified. Yeah we probably miss out on some good meets but we would rather go with caution than risk meeting a time waster.

We almost always have a social first too

Don't send to many pictures. Just enough to see who you are and what you look like.

Look to chat to all involved in a group on Somehon like Kik first.

Facepics of a couple together.

If you still have alarm bells ringing then phonecall/webcam confirmation.

Social meet first if you are still worried.

Shane you are so far away as we would have been happy to meet up and discuss in detail...

You do get to refine your seventh sense on fan - judging who the non genuine and honest are - with experience.

One thing the fakes do is to push for sexually explicit detail of what you want to happen. Also being needy of more of your pics.

If it's a couple then always speak with both of them very quickly. I like to take things from near-anonymous to more interactive early on. You can tell more from a phone or video chat than 1 dimension written words.

There can be highly experienced pathological liars around. But your skills of detection can be even more expert.

As others say, stick to verified users, where the verification seems to show the profile is honest. Block new users too, as they are more suspect than longer term users.

Consider adding to your profile that you're not meeting just yet too.

And think of having social meets so you can establish a network of real people.

It's often the really pushy types that stick out as strange and less convincing - perhaps they're just wanking and will write anything to engage you. If people seem relaxed and easy going then it's a better sign

. Use judgement and common sense . Is the profile informative and does it list hobbies and interests. ? What is the quality of the pictures are do they match data in the profile ?. If no pictures I always assume that the profile is either fake or totally uninteresting . Early chat by phone to discuss common interests etc. If not prepared to give a phone number again assume a fake . Never bother with verifications as these can also be fake . This criteria works for me . Phone call is the most important aspect of the process

Single guys who can't accommodate.... (Unless they are under 25ish and living with mummy) probably means married. There are RARE other reasons but easiest to just avoid?

Couples will normally be able to speak fem to fem.

Cross reference verifications (these can be faked too!) By that I mean...check who has verified the one(s) who verified them. That's why I show plenty of my verifications.

A profile that merely shows the tick and displays none...could just be verified once...by another profile set up by the faker..

You do get a feel for them after a while. Too many requests for pics. Being asked "what would you do with me..." Conversations should flow and make sense. It is a minefield at first, but there are some lovely couples in plymouth. Do read veris too, and again you'll get a feel for what's actually going on. Good luck and have fun.

Oh I must be fake then. I dont display my veris (nobodies business and weirdos contact them to ask personal info).

Don't have a phone chat (not into phone sex thanks)

Don't accommodate (no way would I put my kids at risk)

I have been reading this thread with interest. As we are reasonably new but really getting stung by fakes at moment.

Our problem has been fakes with Verifications too and several of them? I confused as to how someone could do that? We had chatted to a bloke for a week or 2 agreed to Cam last night. The bloke who appear on cam looked nothing like his profile or the pictures he had sent.

We have also had this happen a few times with couples who are verified. Is there something we are missing?

Also can anyone tell me how to do the google image check mentioned previously?

where they photo verified or by meet?

Open the photo on a PC not sure it works on phones, right click on it and a drop down window appears, scroll down to where it says search google for this image and click on that another window opens and if it finds the photo online it tells you where

They were verified by 4 meetings but 2 of them said it was from as previous profile?

They were not photo verified.

I have just had a good look at the picture's he sent through here and there is actually another users profile name across the bottom of the image. But that profile no longer exists.

Doesn't seem to want to let me do the google image search though. Does it still work if the photos have only been sent through this site?

I've only been veried once as I'm not really desperate to screw everything on here. Just take your time and see if you click with the person\couple you are chatting to. If you don't click you don't click, just move on. There is someone on here for everyone. It just takes time and patience.

To be honest you can't tell..Once you're photovverified you can basically upload what you like ddepending on what time you upload pictures but as mentioned in a earlier post..phone conversation,ask for pictures not on their profile followed by a swift social. If they can't provide either then don't waste your time

It sounds like we are kind of doing everything right. But even if you do sometimes you still get caught out.

Not surprising the profile in question has now blocked us. I just hope admin actually do take action.

I hate having our time wasted. It has seriously taken the fun out of it for us.

Right click on a picture and its an option there, if your on a phone with chrome as your browser long press the picture and it will be an option there also.

If you change your username any pics uploaded when you were using the previous name will still have that name on.

There are also verified, genuine users who sometimes mess you about. I arranged to meet someone when I first joined the site who had a variety of meet veris and he didn't show. I had his number and he switched his phone off. A year or so later guess who messaged me.

When I told him why I wasn't interested he said "but I'll turn up this time"

Report and block and move on.

We havent had a problem with fakes, it might be luck or it may be judgement.

This is what we do.

Look at the profile, long and thought out with a good selection of pictures?

Conversation, is it all dirty talk or is there a mixture of that and banter?

How active are they on the site, do they use the forums and chat.

Pictures, is there continuity do they look like the same person, do they look old and out of date. Do they appear on reverse searches.

We dont use txt, whatsapp, skype or any other chat apart from fab chat so we like to get an early chat in in the chatrooms just to see if they are who they claim to be.

Finally gut instinct, you are more likely to rule out genuine people but that happens.

None of the above it fool proof but we have done ok with it so far.

I think alot of people do indeed get this I have came across my fair amount of time wasters on here it's just life.

I remember I had arranged to meet a couple who was meeting at mine he said he was just finished work and asked if he could shower at mine I said no problem. I watch them pull up and then drive off they had messaged me to tell me they are going for a shower and will be back but they never did and I don't think they came back onto fab till like 3 weeks later.

I'm not here to waste anyone's time nor would I expect mine to be wasted but you will always get that so don't point in being annoyed about it. But I have met some wonderful people of this

There is one very important point that needs to be made to all those who have been troubled by fakes.

Have YOU reported them, its our responsibility to help regulate the site, by all means complain but report as well because if you dont how can admin do anything?

I report fakes with stolen pics all the time. All that happens is they make them take the stolen pic down. The guy waits a couple of days and puts up ANOTHER stolen pic. I don't understand why they aren't banned.

I don't know why it's not working for you. I can right click on any size pic on any of my pc's and it brings it up. Try this way. Right click on the pic then click "save image as". It''ll save it to your ownloads. Then open a Google Image page and drag and drop the pic into the search bar. that should work.

f it shows up on loads of sites then it's probably a fake. Especially if it' porn sites. Common sense should take care of it, just have a look at what sites they're on.

talking on line is hard enough to separate genuine from waisters so we like to use social meets to meet new people, it's great to circulate and introduce yourselves and swop fab names + you get to see people in the flesh if you like them you can arrange a night or contact them through fab it's much better then trawling through fab so I'd suggest looking for an organised social in your area

You do develop a pretty good sense and its not a science to be fair. I have no doubt we have missed a few geniune good meets because we didn't get the right vibe. Our rules are.

No face pic even in private message means no meet.

No verifications if been here over a year means no chance

If first message goes right into sex talk they are looking for a quick wank

If message has text speak from anyone over 18 its a fake rushed message. Middle aged peole don't send message like "hey u guys luk hot. Wot u in2"

Don't out the correct header. Clearly not read profile just a copy and paste message.
