Hi guys,

Just a question....How many of you check your balls for lumps, bump or anything out of the ordinary.

I myself didn't check my nuts until 1 day I was in the showers washing my balls and felt a lump, I went to the doctors and he said we will send you for a scan at local hospital, it turned out to be a testicular cancer called seminoma, I had the op to remove the cancer but had to have a ball removed. it hasn't effected my performance in the bedroom department or my sperm levels. I just want to make you all aware of regularly checking your balls guys don't be a statistic of the number of guys who ignore this PLEASE TAKE NOTICE FEEL YOUR BALLS women do it with their breasts and they don't feel ashamed so why should we. do it, it could save your life.

One of the very best posts have seen in ages. Went for a GUM clinic check up (go regularly for peace of mind) and the nurse found a lump. Went for a scan and it turned out to be a cyst on the tubing behind the testicle which was a relief. Bit of a scare though so going to get checked regularly. Testicular cancer has excellent survival rates, especially if caught early.

Great post! you can also check each other I regularly check my man's testicles and he my boobs. We know each other well so will hopefully spot any changes we also check ourselves too. I cant understand why people are so scared early detection is so important. My younger sister had B.C. And caught it early she's 6 years clear and hope it stays that way! Get feeling! Maybe we should have a fumble Friday! Lol

I was at the doctors this morning for my results and like you found out it was not cancer but two rather large cysts.Now waiting for operation very soon.

Testicular cancer usually affects men between the ages of 15 to 49, so young men be extra aware. If you are having any trouble with your 'water works' or pain in your back,hips or pelvis that wasnt there before go and get this checked out. It is not an inevitable part of growing older and could be a sign of prostate cancer. You can develop prostate cancer from around the age of 40 onwards. Blood present in urine or sperm could be a sign of infection but should also be checked out. Also be aware of penile cancer. It is very rare, symptoms of which include a rash, lump or sore on the penis that doesnt heal, change of colour or thickening of the skin on the penis. Dont be embarrassed, get checked out without delay. It could be nothing but fear of the unknown is often worse than actually knowing.

I personally have had testicular cancer so know full well the implications of finding a lump. I went to the doctors 3 times and he kept saying it was a cyst lol I told him he was wrong so he sent me to the hospital for a scan and within 24 hours I was admitted and operated on . I knew my own body and KNEW something was amiss and wouldn't let it go.

Mate of mine had exactly the same thing when he was 40. Big shock for him and all his mates Never checked the old Bollox so much as I did for the few weeks following. Still do now. The good news is if you catch it early theres an excellent survival rate, and to be honest 1 is enough Im told.

I found a lump, in 2010. Luckily it wasn't cancer, but that second you find it, and waiting the time it takes to be sorted, it may as well be. Worst feeling.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you as I had no pain/problems nothing just a lump but that was just in my case and maybe different for others I just had a feeling something was wrong couldn't explain it but I knew if that makes sense lol

I was told that all the cancers to have this is the best one to get lol yes 1 is plenty i have 2 kids 1 was conceived AFTER the cancer

Sorry i was unclear. You are absolutely right, the most common symptom of testicular cancer is a painless lump or swelling although some men experience a dull ache in the scrotum of the feeling of heaviness. The pain in the back, pelvis and hips i was talking about is the only symptom of prostate cancer experienced by some men.

I experience a dull ache daily in my groin but the mrs helps with that lol

Funny you should say that, my occupation is management, I was talking to the personal manager yesterday she told me 3 other guys have decided to go and get checked as soon as they heard I found a lump. It is scary how many guys ignore there health One advice I can give you always check your self be safe.

Orchidectomy in the right side for me. Didn't catch it early and spread to lymph nodes - 9 hellish weeks of chemo.

Good post my father has prostrate cancer actually . Men don't seem to like getting checked out . Thankfully radiotherapy has worked wonders and he is clear with three monthly checks

Excellent post. My mum is a BC survivor. Worth knowing- there is a test for prostate cancer that checks levels if a certain hormone in your blood so u may not even need a physical exam, it also indicates if you've not got it yet but are at higher risk than others and meds can reduce that risk. Also while being aware of what's normal for you try in particular to check once a month in the shower as men have a monthly hormonal cycle too

Awesome post to raise awareness !! I check regularly . I have been advised is is more difficult to notice following the snip ( not sure if that is true or not - but it was a medical professional who told me ) If in doubt get them checked out ..

I have a lady who checks my balls 5 times a week and my prostate once a week. You can combine this very important check with pleasure too. Makes it far less likely to be forgotten.

I had Kidney Stones earlier this year and whilst at the hospital overnight, the dept specialists also checked me for Prostrate and testicular symptoms; I was clear.

I will get myself checked yearly from now on.

im glad your dad beat it. My dad also had prostate cancer about 7 years ago which thank god he beat. Although earlier this year his levels were high and had to have more tests. They treated him this time with hormone pills.

Good advice Evie. Glad your mum is better, mine didnt make it . Are you talking about the Prostatic specific antigen (PSA) test? It is a tool in diagnosis but can be affected by lots of other variables, so most professionals would also wish to carry out an exam. However, the examination is quick, simple, if relaxed it is painless and utilises a handy existing orifice so no need for exploratory surgery . Professionals who carry out this exam do so on thousands of men each year, so no need to be shy or embarrassed. Fear, embarrassment, tabboo and a lack of knowledge are killers. Mens health issues need far more promotion.

I had the same as you a seminoma, I left mine 3 months before plucking up the courage to go to the Drs to get checked out. That was on a saturday, following saturday I was having the operation to remove it. I had no idea it was that serious at the time.

I was told that my partner would have been the best person to know if something was wrong, shame I was single at the time.

Get yourself checked out as soon as possible.
