Lying about age

Can anyone advise about dealing with lying about age, not mine the persons iv met. 2 men now have given me false ages, both older than stated, one was 15 years older which he looked every bit, the other 6 years older but looked more like 10. I chatted politely then made my excuses, but I'm curious, is this common. Should I challenge them to change their profile details ? Or leave well alone ?

People lie about their age all the time, not just on here.

I think you did all you can which is make your excuses and leave.

See a few of these. We had one guy who said he was 36 but on his profile looked about 50 and in his profile text said he had been a student of massage for over 23 years.

All we did was report it. Nothing happened though as he still comes on here.

Personally I just don't see the point in lying about your age.

I can understand why some people might do it - i.e. to fit in to the age range of someone they might be interested in, but of course, once past that hurdle, the awkwardness begins.

I don't see it as any different to lying about the size of their cock.

Claiming to be packing 10 inches is all very well, until they actually get a meet only to rock up packing only 5.

As i've always said on the subject of lying - You get found out in the end - Always!!

Is this more about people using decade old photos then rather than the actual age on the profile. After all when you meet someone in a club it is more about appearance and personality than age and it's a similar thing on here. I find it easier to be flexible on ages than it is on my preferences when it comes to size, looks etc

Mines was meet in person, it was immediately obvious. I'm my part of the country if someone looks old for their age that they must have had a hard paper round, but in this case they weren't even invented lol

Gotta say this is our main bug bear we show our true ages and that means our age goes against us with some couples, yet off they pop with peeps who lie about their age claiming to be late 30's

We have never cared about other peoples ages we know most ages stated on here are false , it's about the people.

The fact is some people will always lie about their age, not always about being younger. Had a few men add a few years on...

I wouldn't challenge them or tell them change their profile details. However I would politely excuse myself and leave if I felt they had been dishonest.

It can be tricky to always know for sure as some people age far better than others.

I only lie about other people's!

If I ever get asked by a lady "how old do you think I am" I take 10-15% from what I actually think. This formula seems about right, for avoiding a slap, but without sounding facetious

I have no idea why people lie about their age, the only reason I can think of on here is to get round filters have no idea why people do it in real life. Maybe their trying to convince themselves, just cause you say your a certain age doesn't automatically mean you will look it.

I'd sooner someone say I looked good for 50 then rough as fuck for 40.

Guess its insecurity

People lie about age, they lie about being single, they lie about permission, they lie about size, they lie about age and they lie about names on profiles etc. You chat on cam before meeting if you are unsure.

we could knock a few years off our actual ages and nobody would bat an eye - but dont see the point - prefer to look good for our age than ok for a few years less if that makes sense - temptng though when just out of age ranges of some people but weve gotten round that an odd time -

Age is just a number, but if someone is lying about their age, what else are they're lying about? I challenged someone once on another site about their age in a photo and they went to town on picking my profile to pieces. So best let them get on with it and move on.

I hate that too. I show my age and always have been honest. If you have to lie to get a meet then its not good.

I met a guy who was 55 and omg he was amazing. Yes I know a different guy at 55 may be more like my dad but just hate the lying.

If someone has pictures on their profile ( even if out of date ) , I judge by these , not what age is on the profile . My decisions are made on other factors such as interests , personality , and how any telephone conversation goes . Because some people can be very judgemental on age , I can understand why some knock a few years off . This does not necessarily mean you have lied about everything else - you would probably need to ensure that all the other criteria on your profile was accurate otherwise you might be left looking very foolish . Comment applies to casual meets , if loking for a marriage partner lying about age would be completely unacceptable .

Next time before meeting anybody insist on seeing them on web cam or with a photo holing a newspaper with the date clearly visible. If they ask why be honest sand say you have had meets with people who who claimed to be a lot younger than they actually were. That way you will out the people who lie about age.

It is very common but most people I've met have been up front about it.. Only thing i lie about is my name and that's for security reasons.. Im so glad that i have too... Been in a few sticky situations that if people were to have known my name, could have easily found me... Im honest and say that sue is my fab name and once I've formed a friendship with people and Im comfortable that my private life is not at risk, i happily divulge my real name.. The only problem with that is my limited friends i know off fab that i have allowed to be part of my life do call me sue in front of my family... I find it funny especially when they realize but i would much prefer them to use sue in front of my family then my real name in a club...

The fake ages seem to start when they reach their 40th birthdays. 90% of the 40+'ers in our inbox look at least 10 years older. Those in their 30's all look about right.

We can understand using a slightly fake age to help hide an identity.

It's the guys that seem to be the worst. We were contacted by a couple where he claimed to be about 5 years younger than My hubby but from pic looked a good 10 years older.

Either he was lying or he'd had a very hard life.

Why do so many people who've not looked after themselves think they can lie their way out of it. Do they really think that just changing their age will make all the difference?

We don't lie about ages. Just up front about it but do ask that people look at our pics first.

Not necessarily as I have chatted to a few and they had put their year of birth wrong but then couldn't change it and didn't know how to as newbies so I have then told them.

Personally if they were trying to bypass the filters, they really wouldn't put their true age in the text
