Hi all I've been on here a couple of month now and seem to be getting messed about by fake people trouble is I'm no good at spotting fakes recently I've been talking to a women who's only been on 2 weeks no face veri and no meet veris she has emailed me a pic of her and a cheeky vid but the vid doesn't show the face and the pic doesn't show her body call me paranoid but it could be anyone I'm abit unsure as to weather I should reply with the vid she wants as it will show me in all my glory lol how can I be sure it's not a fake

It's a self defeating exercise to ask 'how do I spot fakes?' as fakes will read it and act on the information given. If you think it's too good to be true, it probably is.

Fakes are typified by lots of messaging, no telephone number being exchanged, no meet being arranged ... I assume a couple of days messaging is ok for finding out about each other, but after that if you haven't chatted by phone ... its a fake! Another sure Fake sign is the male who's "interested in getting his partner into swinging" ... as if!!

Profiles that have only just been set up minutes before and already been verified. Text doesn't match with the type of person they're trying to portray, i.e. an educated and professional person with lots of spelling and grammar mistakes. Face pics and/or other pics in public gallery but not one as avatar pic. Someone who messages you again and again with the same type of 'first' message after you haven't replied to any of their messages. Straight into sex talk and giving you mobile numbers straightaway. Check out if the pics are also found elsewhere on the internet: through Google Chrone, right click on pic and choose 'Google search for this image'.

The above isn't set in stone, but view as red flags. You can't just rely on profile with veris to be genuine, as other profiles can be set up to verify the fake profile or even the cammed veris should be viewed with caution.

A combination of red flags and set your filters not to accept newbies: if they're here for the long haul, then they're likely to be genuine. Do a forum search and you'll find other ways other members have spotted fakes.

Doesn't always mean fake tho, our face pics are fully clothed normal pics but the other slightly more revealing ones are headless. You won't find any naughty pics of us that have faces. Same as we won't just give out our phone number to someone we might meet, doesn't mean we are fake. That's how we did things before getting verified too

not at all, we arent fake, but we never ever give out e mail or phone numbers and have no interest in having a play phone, we do our arranging on here or in person at clubs/socials and it works fine for us, we also no of many others that do not give out details like phone numbers unless its regular friends.

One hot pic alone is nearly always a fake IME, and people who take things off site and immediately send me a load of pics and try to get me to send more explicit ones are usually dodgy in some way.

I would need a proper phone number before arranging a meet, and it's best to talk on the phone too. I've omitted that once or twice and once as soon as he spoke I was just turned right off by his voice. The same with a clear face pic. Not fake maybe, but hiding something. People can be extremely devious.

I never ever give out my number prior to a meet and if I don't intend meeting again after a quick coffee then my number isn't in someone's contact list! I only exchange phone numbers when I've met someone face to face and have a date for a play meet.

I'm not fake but I am extremely careful who gets my number and my photo...!

Not necessarily in my book, assuming that you've let them know as to your logistics problems in setting up a meet, and thats good. Have you spoken with them yet? Telephone calls are so much easier than text messages.

Not necessarily. But I can only say that all my meets have been prefaced by telephone conversations with the singles and couples. I guess that its a case of what each prefers. Perhaps its the modern way ... Fab messaging rather than speaking. I'll try your way and see whether it works for me too

Cams prove everything. So long as both cam and mic are working there's no way to fake that. If in doubt, ask the person to pick up something on their desk and put it on their heads. NEVER meet without verifying the person on cam. If they won't come on cam they clearly have something to hide...

I never ask anyone to go on cam before meeting and have only ever been stood up once and that was 5 years ago.

I'm not suggesting people would stand you up without a cam chat, what i'm saying is the amount of guys who message me then when they come on cam they aren't the guy in the pics prove that i would have been meeting a totally different person if i hadn't cammed. I'm not going out to be met by a faker, it's a waste of my time and if someone is prepared to lie about who they are, i don't want to meet them.

Wish I could say that tactic worked for us but sadly it hasn't.

One "verified" couple recently caught us out after they (he) was found out making arrangements for multiple meetings for the same time all over town.

I refuse to meet socially until i know for sure they're not fake. Considering the amount of fake profiles that contact me daily, if i didn't see them on cam prior, loads of meets would be fake and a waste of my time. Viewing on webcam isn't instead of a social meet, it's a step to get to one for me.

Unfortunately i get contacted by loads of fakes

If i can't find any stolen pics on google images i will then chat to them on cam. If they're the same person as the pics, and if they have good banter then i'll arrange a meet. I've never had a no show that way. It's the only way i feel to keep my time being wasted to a minimum.

Found another giveaway to a fake profile is no pictures ever get put on - surely mostly, everybody has a smartphone or camera phone to do selfie's with. Can't be that hard

a phone call doesnt prove you're the person in the pictures though. Before i got wise to this i talked to several guys on the phone and had 2 meets that turned out to be old men and not the guys the pics were of.

Those who don't cam or do phone number exchange aren't necessarily fake - I use my iPad so can't cam and I won't do a social without a contact number...I've met a few posting on this thread that don't cam or give out contacts at socials, however, I wouldn't have arranged to meet with any of them on a 1:1 basis without a contact number had they contacted me or I contacted them - not necessarily because I'd think they were fake (although it's one of my amber lights) but it's just the way I run my swinging life and it seems to work ok for me

If you block non verified it blocks non pic and meet verified so you don't need a meet veri to message, just need to be photo verified.

We would also not request guys to send us vids of potential meets...

As she has no veris and no pics just ask for quick chat on phone or go on cam, if she genuinely wants to meet you she will have no probs confirming she is who she says she is x

Erm...if you read what I said you will see that I pointed to threads where people said they didn't possess a 'cam'.... Ie their PC/laptop/iPad had no means of video conferencing

If someone doesn't want to go on cam, that doesn't make them fake...of course not.... And that's their choice....It's the weak excuse that they don't have the hardware that I was illuding to...

I'm writing this on an Apple iPad... It has a camera...it can be used for FaceTime or Skype etc.... You can create a Skype account that doesn't require giving out personal details...(I wouldn't use FaceTime)

Same thing with my phone....shock news...it has a camera too

Are people using Sinclair Spectrums or summat?

Anyway, as at least two of you didn't get what I was saying I guess it was my poor explanation

I personally don't think it's a binary thing ... Ie that video calling is the only way... As stated, it doesn't prove anything wrt their punctuality...

Perhaps our definition of 'fake' is what's at fault here?

To me it means, for example, a guy pretending to be a woman... Or a single pretending to be a couple.....how on earth can you fake that on cam?

Honestly, I'd love to know because I can't see how it's possible to fake that in a live video call. so goin on cam must be the best way to verify prior to meeting?

MO, someone who doesn't turn up isn't necessarily a fake... Just I'll mannered....

That's a load of bollocks. I've never cammed and I don't cam because I don't like it. I've nothing to hide. I also don't do phonecalls either.

Erm...if you read what I said you will see that I pointed to threads where people said they didn't possess a 'cam'.... Ie their PC/laptop/iPad had no means of video conferencing

If someone doesn't want to go on cam, that doesn't make them fake...of course not.... And that's their choice....It's the weak excuse that they don't have the hardware that I was illuding to...

Same thing with my phone....shock news...it has a camera too

Are people using Sinclair Spectrums or summat?

In summary...a précis of what I actually said..

No cam = not fake

Not wanting to cam = not fake

Having no interest in cams = not fake

Saying you don't have the means to cam = Luddite or BS

Hopefully this clarifies lol

we had a similar conversation with a couple who only used single men and they told us if they was unsure about someone being a genuine single they always told them that the women loves to scratch and bite and this had to be part of the play but they would be greatly rewarded, a soon as they said this most never replied or contacted them again, their theory was those who disappeared without a no thanks were obviously cheating or time wasters

after two years on fab we still crap at spotting fakes

maybe we should all share our best practise in spotting fakes

There are a few things that ring alarm bells for us. We also rely on our gut instinct, it's served us very well, so far! If we have any doubts at all then we stop any further communication.

Often if you think something is too good to be true, it usually is.

What works well for one person, won't for another....
