Nipple piercing change

Bit embarrassing really but after some advice please. Had nipple pierced in Feb with a bar and its not long enough so balls are stretching hole. I want to change it for a ring which I think will be more comfortable but the guy who did it says have to wait 9 months to change it. Should I ask another piercer to change for me? I cant wait another few months I love it but will take it out otherwise. It is healed; I know they can take a long time x

I'd go and get a second opinion from another professional piercer. I didn't have to wait that long, the guy who did mine changed them for me after 12 weeks, but best ask a professional as we are all different x

You may think its healed but dont take the bar out without having a replacement to go straight in. My experience is that it will start to seal up very quickly. Hours not days. Go to a piercer to get it changed but there will be no probs, in fact it will be much better with a ring and not being constricted.

Just change it. I changed mine after a couple of weeks and they were fine.

I don't have a nipple piercing but I have 10 others. As long as it's all clean it shouldn't be an issue to change it. I use savlon antiseptic wash on my piercings and new jewellery and i've never had any problems.

After a week u can change any piercings I am a body piercer so the guy that said u can't is tellin u lies and y did he pierce u with a wee bar at start it should been big 1 for the swelling then after a week move down sizes x

Just make sure that the bar you put in is nice and clean. If the piercing is not fully healed then you want to minimise the chances of infection getting in.

I totally agree that it seems odd that he started with a small bar. Of be entire tempted to go elsewhere for and more piercings.

I'd alo add, clean the old one before you take it out as well. You don't want to drag nasties into the new piercing.

You should be ok to change it, as long as you have something to replace it with straightaway and it's suitable for healing piercings, i.e. titanium. Maybe the piercer meant by not changing it after 9 months, was to change the type of jewellery suitable for healed piercings only.

I would go to another piercer and for their opinion. They may suggest to change it for a longer bar or a ring. I have a ring in mine and its fine.

my piercer told me nipples can take anything from 3 to 12 months to heal but should be able to change my nipple bar after about 3 so if they won't do it and you don't think you can do it yourself (they can be buggers to get open again the first time!) i would just approach another piercer who will change the jewellery for between a fiver and a tenner

I have 3 bars on the back of my neck, and have had them for around 7 years now. The first 2 folk I went to, refused to do it. They said that they don't heal, and grow out within a few weeks! But the woman that did them said it would be fine! And after 7 years they are still there! So I would go ask another piercer what they think.
