Can a convincing tgirl girl travel by plane?

I'm planning a business trip abroad and would like to travel in fem mode. Can anyone advise if this is a problem at airport check in/passport control etc.(obviously my passport is 'male')

Appearance wise, I'm very confident in public, and easily able to dress so as not to draw attention to myself, and told I'm convincing.

Would really appreciate thoughts and feedback from those in the airport/airline industry and other tgirls who have done the same.

I would sugest you call the airport and ask passport control the question.

THe whole point of a passport is that you look vaguely like the photo. Hence, if the photo is out of date you need to update it.

You could go dressed but don't complain if the officials aren't sympathetic towards you.

I have tried on a night out to Amsterdam, but was asked to remove my wig and make up, however they did let me use an interview room. not a good experience for me.

Sometimes I question the common sense on here.

You have to look like your passport for entry into another country if you do not then they wont let you in, its quite simple.

These are the questions that come to my mind:

How much do you look like your passport photo when you are dressed femininely?

How do you feel about toning it down and wearing a feminine suit instead of a dress?

Is it worth potentially missing your flight?

I think the best answer (given in a previous post) is to contact the airports you will be flying out from and into and asking them what their policy is on this.

"I would sugest you call the airport and ask passport control the question."

I very much agree - airline check-in personnel and boarding staff to be happy with your identity, as do passport control at arrival airports. There is no reason 'not' to travel 'en femme' as far as I know - I wish you well for this journey - do report back how it goes...

Its got nothing to do with confidence or how, and I hate the word, convincing you are. If they can't confirm you are the person in the passport photograph (or for internal flights driving license pic) then you'll be asked to remove the wig and makeup.

Until they start using fingerprints or other biometrics then they have to rely on the mark 1 eyeball.

I think you should be ok. Maybe call in advance and explain the situation.

I can't imagine you having any problems nowadays.

Good luck and let us know how it goes

many thanks to all for your thoughts and suggestions. Perhaps should have added a few things by way of additional background

- a have a new e-passport which I understand contains biometric data

- I don't tend to wear heavy make up, especially around the eyes. Just some light foundation, powder, blusher and a lttle mascara (hate the drag queen look)

- happy to travel in jeans (female style and cut), t-shirt, ballet pumps not heels with a simple wrap or similar.

- my 'male mode' glasses work well 'en femme' too and are a the ones I wore for my passport photo

"I didn't think you needed a passport for the eec"

.

Since a legitimate photo ID, and AFAIK, our driving license on its own is not sufficient as a photo ID as it lacks biometric data, is still very far away in this country, how would one travel to another EC country without using a passport?

If you look like two completely different people, then you will have to convince them that youre not. Allow extra time for clearance, consider checking in online, so it is just passport control and the boarding gate staff only to contend with. Discrimination laws prevent a lot of hassle that people had in the past, but those staff are just trying under pressure to do a good job, and not be awkward- well most are. If your hair style and colour is similar to your male style, then it is likely easier. Some countries overseas are not as relaxed,so consider that carefully.

OK,, you are entitled to have as many "first" passports as you like, so apply for a second "first" passport, requesting it should include your "en Femme" picture, which will of course have to be verified.

Then you will have a picture that shows you as you are travelling.

It is possible to travel without the extra passport but not worth the hassle

I would bear in mind that you do have a right to self determination and freedom of expression so I be pretty sure you couldn't be refused access simply on the basis of your attire

I can see an interesting legal test case coming

(I am not a lawyer of any sort so best ring the passport office for advice)

(PPS - might be best to check where you are going and what their attitude is to "alternative" lifestyles - you wont want a deportation event!!!!!!)
