" always keep in mind how many people will fit in your home/venue & don't overcrowd it as that's worse than having a few." We start with friends list, then friends of friends .. Lol. And then just do a local search .... But when inviting new people remember the general rule of thumb, invite 4, 2 don't turn up ...

"In the past we've only invited people we are attracted to. Don't people have an expectation that you will play if you invite them though I think I'd like to invite other people but don't want to put on the spot ..." We have swinging friends who we have never played with...some of these we have known longer than 10 years etc, people don't fancy everyone & vice versa but they are all there for fun. If we were to invite our naughtiest play mates we wouldn't want to share them lol!, people don't automatically want to jump your bone for sending them a party invite & its nice meeting new people.

" They don't . What's wrong with them - joke for the people that don't understand humour ! Yes fair point. Well we shall try it once and see how it goes then. Think you for your replies

"We'd assume its a case of "He who pays the piper" If we're going to arrange the meet and provide the accommodation and everything that entails then we sure wouldnt invite anyone we didnt want there! Its a different thing if attending a party someone else has arranged." There is a difference between not wanting a person & not fancying them, we go to lots of parties where we meet up with people we have never played with but we can still have a good chat & be sociable. We like to have a happy medium of age, size etc so people feel comfortable.

I guess we should ensure we get a good response to ensure there's a variety of people to play.

"Invite people of a similar age range generally. Have a "core" of people you know and you know will play (can be awkward as who starts first? kinda thing). I always try to invite a few newbies to us and just newbies - people have to start somewhere. Provide snacks n soft drinks but dont expect to be paid for this lol... a voluntary contribution tin is ok. Generally invite 3 for every two you expect to come - particularly if you don't already know them (even friends may not always turn up but they will let you know!). Most of all don't set expectations too high. See it as a social event first and foremost. Everyone you get to play with is a bonus. PM me if you want more info from someone who holds regular parties...xx" The hosts aren't even of a similar age lol but thank you for the advice
