I wink sometimes too, I don't mind winks as I can then check them out and wink back if I like them, exchange of messages and bingo! So no not lazy though some might think that

I think a lot depends on the person. We see winks as a way of showing interest and will always check out the persons profile and message back but we don't get that many where as I think people that get lots it must be quite tiresome being bombarded with them and messages.

I used to think winking was a lazy way to contact me but feel fine about getting winks. Some are just to say like your pics/profile.

The only winks I get are from bi- guys, usually miles away, who clearly haven't bothered to read my profile, so yes, I see those as lazy.

On the other hand, I winked at a couple a while ago and it led to a meet, but usually I'd much rather send a message to someone I'm interested in as I reckon it gives me a better (albeit still very slim!) chance of a response.

I don't take much notice of winks to be honest as usually they're from men who live the other side of another country I look and appreciate them but that's it. The only time I winked back at a local it was ignored

I use it as an initial ice breaker. A recognition that I like what I see and I would then like to start messaging. Id like to think others see it this way too but realise they are an irritant to them.
