If I haven't been on the site for one month it shows that I haven't logged in for a year! When a profile doesn't show up does that mean that the profile has been deleted or the person as not logged in for more than a month?

Normally it means it has been deleted. Saying that, the browse / search isn't very good, so make sure the user name is typed in exactly right.

Unless a profile has been hidden or deleted it will still show up after not logging in for a month.
