Upside down Pineapple under the sea

How are you supposed to politely respond to a message that is just that one word?

Asking for a friend

Seriously though, I wish people would put more effort in.

I've found a polite Hey back is enough to kill the conversation

Very often do and sometimes it builds into a meaningful conversation. Other times not so .

Somewhere in Norfolk ask :)

Anyone who sends us a hello or a message just saying hi gets either blocked or deleted or both. Even a hello how are you both is better than nothing but bottom line is if that’s all they can be bothered to say to try and get our attention then not someone we likely to vibe with in real life.

Don't reply! No reply is a polite reply, it's in Fabs FAQS.

Our best recent one was, "Hey" which we didn't reply to - politely, of course

Then came, "u meeting?" from the same person, which we also (politely) ignored.

Then came their longest message, "chatty fuckers, arn't u".

There sure are some loquacious charmers on this site!

That's why we only meet in clubs as people tend to be more social and conversational there

We did once reply "hey" to a message that said "hey", they then sent "X" (what makes it more funny is they were going to and attended the same club as us that night, yet couldn't even type a sentence!).

The art of communication is a dying trend it seems. We blocked single males from messaging as we got fed up of single emoji messages

Here. There.

It’s always a shorted exchange that gets to the denouement that they’re horny in about 3 messages. Which is also the amount of time it takes to find out they have nothing to say. At all.

The usual response is "Hi". He (invariably a man) then says "u ok" or similar. I reply "yes, you?" and he says "yeah".

He then expects me to initiate a conversation about something, but I don't. Very satisfying.

By reading this thread it seems a 'hey' gets a response more then a decent longer message which normally for me is a no reply or deleted

When we ask and they explain we respond with "well shouldn't it be wayut then"....it can go all sorts of ways after that.

I always attempt to mention things in the profile or interests they've mentioned, and sometimes I get back a "hey" and I think what a waste of my time. Do I then need to come up with questions after the first attempt? Because hey isn't a no is it.

Or worse they wink at you, you message and then theres no response.

I think, I like to talk but as you say its a dying art. People seem to like "hey" "fuck?" "Yeah" although I've met none of them but can only assume thats what they want.

I don't respond at all to just one word messages. I delete them. If they put no effort in why should I?
