ENM life

We are an ENM couple and we are enjoying our ENM journey so far. We have open communication at all times, this ensures we respect one another.

This is not to say we are perfect. We have both made faux pas and talked them through. We always resolve any conflict straight away.

Are you ENM? Do you have any advice? Are you thinking about ENM and want some advice, don’t hesitate to ask?

We are still learning everyday is a school day xx

S&B xx❤️

"Happily solo poly for years now. "

Could you explain, because that sounds like a contradiction in terms.

I live alone, I keep my own space and my own peace, and have deeply fulfilling relationships which rarely include sleepovers 💜

Me and my wife are both solo poly. I have three long term partners. It's good, cheating doesn't come between anyone as it's not a thing. Everyone has different needs.

My wife is my nesting partner : )

My partner (who I met through fab) and I are ENM. Both of us both meet/play seperately as well together with others. We’ve not really had many big frictions over the years we’ve been together. Our relationship is built on honesty, communication and trust.

Of course we still have boundaries that are mutually agreed upon and have evolved too. Honestly, it’s the healthiest relationship I’ve been in.

Thanks for sharing and for your advice about honesty and communication.

We haven’t really discussed boundaries but more so discuss needs…. That’s good advice thanks xx

Absolutely zero criticism meant, but this is such a great example of why it’s a good idea to ask people what their poly life looks like, what poly means to them etc etc when discussing things with potential partners. My natural assumption for someone ‘solo poly’ would be that, like our esteemed correspondent above, they live alone but have (the potential for) multiple partners. But I can also completely see why you’d use it to describe separate dating scenarios.

Thanks for a thought-provoking post!

I am glad you like the thought provoking post and yes different phrases can mean different things to different people… and some people ENM or poly is not for them… they like to swinging but have anonymous sex with others but not relationships and that’s okay too xx

I have a friend that calls it sneakyarchy for that situation. They don't think it's possible to be married to and live with someone without that creating a hierarchy, whether intentional or not, and I do kind of agree with that. Purists would say it's solo dating or autonomous/independent poly.

But people can call it whatever they like, as long as they're communicating well about the actual situation to the people that matter 💜

I, Sam, totally agree about the Hierarchy. As we are primary partners we treat each other as the priority, nevertheless NRE (New Relationship Energy) can sometimes sneak in.

We are solid though and we know we aren’t replacing each other in the near future. If it happens then so be it.

The perfect situation. I guess i live a 'version' of this as I'm single but have nice friendships.

If it works for you then fantastic.

For my birthday we all got together and hung out. My partners all like one another and we often do things as a group, not sexy things.

Hierarchy isn't there in a over whelming sense but I have been married 7 years and I was married before I got with my other two partners so they assumed/knew nesting partner is my main and neither feel bad or any less for it.

I know that's not always how people feel and I'm lucky.
