So a new member joins, I send a polite welcome like I often do only to receive a.....

"Block me, i've heard you're trouble on here"

Then an hour later.....

"Block me or I will report you to admin"

Two points.....

I have never caused any trouble

Surely they could have just blocked me

Anyone else had anything similar?

Not worth the effort of thinking about it mate. There is no definitive answer to this. They may have a reason but if you think about it they are doing you a favour as for whatever reason they not for you. Increase you chance with other real nice people

Carlisle usually

New members get drowned in messages unless they immediately put their inbox on lockdown. They probably just don't appreciate the message.

Though why they don't just block you themselves I don't know.

I’ve not met someone on here yet despite being on here for a while. I’ve spoke to a few but never went further unfortunately

I've been on here for quite some time and not experienced this before, I tend to politely welcome new members and never cut to the proverbial comments as it's not something I would do if I started chatting with someone "for real"

As you said they could have just blocked me rather than insisting I block them.

Am I to understand that your approach is to indiscriminately and habitually send messages to new members, ostensibly welcoming them...with no ulterior motives?

New members that perhaps - I'm guessing - still have an incomplete profile and unverified?

Each to their own but, as Prêy says, new members are inundated with messages. It could be that you're not the only one sending them a hearty welcome message.

Who knows?

New members whose profiles match my criteria and I match theirs, how are people supposed to begin to possibly make a connection if they can't just say a polite hello and welcome,

Why do you feel the need to welcome new members?

When I first joined I very nearly left straight away. In the first hour I had well over a hundred welcome to fab messages and I had no pics and no bio on my profile.

It was really overwhelming, I had no idea about filters and didn't have time to find out before I was bombarded with messages from me telling me I was beautiful when I hadn't even posted a picture.

Maybe give people time to get the hang of the site before you start messaging.

I think new profiles should start with filters on and then some info on how to remove them when they are ready.

It would stop this absolutely ridiculous "welcome to fab pick me" messages and maybe more women would actually stay on the site and not leave before they even get started.

"New members whose profiles match my criteria and I match theirs..."

You and 500 other men who are probably doing the same.

Have you already exhausted the vast pool of current/legacy/heritage women on here? Just how many women are you messaging each day?

"...how are people supposed to begin to possibly make a connection if they can't just say a polite hello and welcome."

You could wait until they message you first.
