I live in a small town next to other small towns. It's the kinda place where everyone knows everyone!! Been generally avoiding meeting folk too nearby but wondered what the general view on this was? Also I'm single n live with just daughter so meeting at my place purely from that perspective is ok but worried that neighbours might get curious?

I don't meet anyone closer than about 5 miles, my post woman the Manager from the local shop and a grandparent of one of the kids I teach are all on here. With face pics! Mine stays in my private pics.

I live in a small village where everyone knows everyone and also knows everyone in all the surrounding villages for about 30 miles! I have to be very careful due to all my family living in the area too. My face pic only gets sent out to someone when I'm sure I can trust them. It's always a risk but worked out ok up to now. There aren't many men local to me, as one man said it's 'slim pickings' anyway lol I will accommodate once I've had a social but as I don't meet many and usually in the evenings, it's not been a problem with the neighbours.

I have struggled to meet with local people, for similar reasons; scandal, embarrassment etc.

I thought we were all grown-ups and appreciated discretion?

We mainly look to meet people outside our county although this is obviously something you can't control when you go to a club. Would be very awkward for us meeting people we knew personally and from a job perspective. Luckily for us travelling is not an issue.

I'm intrigued that you're in any way concerned about this. If you're swinging as a single (as I am) ... then effectively you're dating, whether its in a 121 context or in a couple context. It is 2013 ... so don't live in fear of what other people might think of you. Why shouldn't you swing locally ... I do, and with partners (singles and couples) who do too. I only travel distances in those circumstances when swinging is with partners who I'm attracted to, who just happen to live further away ... not to hide from others' antiquarian mores. Be free, and live your life to suit yourself

... and save petrol/hotel costs too

We used to feel worried about it but not now . Partly because we dont really care about gossips but also as we were making things unnecessarily difficult for ourselves by limiting local meets .

After visiting a local swinging club a few times we realised it was all good as everyone was cool and exercised discretion .

Two years down the line we have had no problems

I have no issues with what others think about us....I do have an issue when it becomes playground gossip and it affects our kids. It's that simple.

I have a local fab buddy - I resisted for a long time, scared I would be spotted in Tesco! but it has turned out a lot better than expected x its great for last minute, quick sex!

I live in the same town as the OP, I have never had a problem,I have met a few people from my local area and we all understand the need for privacy,I think the local population is about 50 or 60 thousand people so the odds are against bumping into people !!!!

Local has never worked for me I don't bother now and the new distance feature does not help. I don't want to be running into anyone through work anyway.

If I contact within 10 miles then I want to see a pic as the only person I trust is me unfortunately !!!!

Admin are working on a opt out of sorts to protect people's location within 20 miles. Open to all I believe. Watch the new distance thread they started

I do for one! I'm single and have no kids but I still like to keep this side of my life private. I have parents, family, friends and very nosey villagers and I don't want to be their gossip topic for years to come!

We live in a very small town, are well known locally and wouldn't swing with anybody from around here. The closest couple we've played with live about 20 miles away, that's close enough for us!
