As a single guy sending a new message not a cut and paste message after reading the profile you send a message .instead of no thanks or not for me ,not my type nothing just blocked seems to be the new way of saying no thank you. I get that some guys on here keep on messaging me if my messages is read and deleted that's a no I understand. Am I old school too polite or what ,yes block me

People complain about every combination of unanswered message. They also complain about some of the answers. It's probably best for your peace of mind to accept that anything other than a positive response is a 'no thanks'.

It must be disheartening if you are blocked without any interaction at all. If you are writing a lovely personalised message to someone after you have read their profile, have you considered that it might be your profile that is putting them off and not necessarily what you put in your message.

Something for you to consider maybe.

It is a downer, but couples and single ladies must get 100s messages and it takes time to say no thanks, it’s just quicker to block, one tap and it’s sorted. I wouldn’t take offence. Some other guys ruin it for us all, as they are often dicks

True but when send a reply saying "no thanks or a not for us" usually get "why or your loss" so unfortunately then a block is a lot simpler and less hassle.

It's a buyers market. Female friends get 1000+ messages a day. Unfortunately, it's nothing personal - it's just spam prevention. A club is a good place to meet a woman if you are a guy. This website - not so much. Even if you are suitable - you have to stand out from the wall of nonsense the average woman has to wade through.

We don't tend to block straight away, but we do say no thanks politely, it's kinda pointed out in the profile what we want, and anything else is no ta from us. But the worst is, we've had to block some because they either keep replying asking why not, and why they can't be the exception, or even worse we say no, then 2 weeks later get the same interaction, say no, then, yup you guessed it... They get blocked.

That and friend requests that just randomly appear, blocked. Snarky Muppets that think they are gods gift, blocked.

So sometimes we think it might just be easier to block from the off, saves us and them hassle then.

I am also a part of a couples profile on here, which VERY clearly states what we are looking for and also the fact that it is ALWAYS me (The bloke) using the account.

We get about 100 messages a day and I could give you countless examples of someone sending a nice message , me responding 'its all in the profile' then the messenger following that up with 5 or 6 messages, some of which occasionally turn nasty.

Frequently, many of the same messages will reappear days later.

Sometimes, it's just easier to block.

Don't worry about it, there are plenty more fish in the sea.

The people the OP is referring to blocked because, for whatever reason, they weren’t interested in meeting him and didn’t want to risk engaging in persistent back-and-forth or abuse. But no one else has stopped him getting a meet, it’s just stopping him getting a ‘ no thanks’ reply.

I’ve been on Fab 14 years now. It’s not a “new” thing - blocking has always been considered a legitimate way of saying “no thanks” (and there’s always been threads about it)!

Having seen the inbox of female friends, it makes perfect sense. That’s partly because of the content, but I also know that I wouldn’t get round to copying and pasting 10, 20, 50 or 100 times a day

We try and respond to every message but some you can clearly see the profile hasn’t been looked at so that’s a normal block button but if you’ve got to the effort to read the profile and think you are what we are looking for then yes you will get a response even if it is a nice sorry you aren’t for us, then we would normally block late so not to stumble across each other.

But other than that’s it nice to reply, but it’s not only guys that get the trouble with no response. We has a couple message no end of single females and couples thinking they look nice and looking for the same let’s message them only to get no response.

That’s one of the reasons our profile is the way it is so people can see what we like in meet.

We had to block single guys entirely because the volume of messages is daft. Like a couple of other posters, I deal with the messages because Chels had a bad experience with guys being vile.

Sometimes we see a profile we like, click on it and find we're blocked despite having never interacted with them. It's not just men on the receiving end of the block button 🤣

Everyone manages their account how they want to. What you see as rude is just an easy way for them. Blocking is also a very clear way to tell you they are not interested.

I dont block but if I am not interested I also do not reply.

Filters on fab work in mysterious ways. If I reply to you then in 6 months I decide I want a break and stick on the filters to block single men, all those I have replied to in the past will not be blocked by said filter.

I would rather keep my filters working as I want them to so wont reply if you are not for me.

Even the site FAQ tells you no answer is a reply in itself.
