Hey

I have a couple who are interested in entering the lifestyle but are hesitant and have concerns about how it might affect their relationship.

They are discussing it together, between themselves, but would benefit having a couples counsellor who has professional experience in dealing with the lifestyle and can discuss this with them.

Are there any counselors that can be recommended?

Thanks in advance

If they are hesitant and worried about the effect on their relationship, then they probably shouldn't try anything until they've had a proper think around the reasons why

I don't know of anybody who has a particular specialism in swinging. However any couples counsellor should be able to bring out and discuss issues that they feel might arise I would have thought. They shouldn't be judgemental and if they are they need to change counsellors.

The best advice for couples who think swinging may harm their relationship.

Stay well clear of swinging, its probably not for you.

A strong, stable relationship is a must before even thinking of entering this scene.

Maybe a holiday to somewhere like Gran Canaria where you can both be naked on a beach with other naked people, see how you feel then move on very slowly.

Maybe go to a club where you can stay dressed and see how you feel. Best to mix with real swingers not the chatterers who have no intention of meeting.

Good luck to them, its a great journey.

I’m no expert, however have been on and off here for a decade, both as a single and in a couples profile.

My first step would be to ask them regarding what aspect concern them in relation to their relationship. If they are concerned around jealousy etc, then the answer would be to steer clear.

The most basic piece of advice is open communication, set ground rules for what they will and won’t do, what they each want out of it. We’re all here for different reasons and all have different desires. Their relationship needs to be solid for this lifestyle to work, no matter what they want to gain from it.

I would suggest they dip their toes by visiting a club, but with the intention of just spending time with each other and not playing with any one else. If they are uncomfortable in the basic club atmosphere. Then leave it at that also remind them that swinging is 80 to 90% social.

A club that has nights for new folk and isn't dressdown from the start helps.

I think, some things can be over thought and over analysed.
