Unread messages but nothing new to read

So we have an annoying glitch was wondering if there was a fix that isn’t deleting all messages.

The top tab is showing we have unread messages but there is nothing in our inbox left to read.

Is there a way to clear it?

Do you have the friends filter switched on for your inbox? We have made that mistake before.
