Private room in club

On Saturday I was playing in a private room with a guy and my hubby was watching through the window. On two occasions different men tried to go past him and enter the room to which my husband told them in no uncertain terms that they were not to enter. They seemed put out by this and started asking why etc. Is this a normal occurrence? Surely a private room means just that

Sadly yes. No matter how many times clubs reiterate the rules to single guys and have staff around the club, there are always few who choose to ignore them and have no basic respect. If you had locked the room, then you would have had a constant knocking and rattling of the door handle

You were totally in the right.

Private rooms are just that....private.

Always report it to the event organisers or club managers.

We had a guy being very pushy trying to get Mrs in a room when my back was turned.

To all the people out there.....No, shouldn't be followed up with a why.

Shouldn't be the norm at all. That is a total failure of club etiquette and respect. Some people totally get how to behave others don't. Sadly some clubs seem to be worse for club etiquette that others. The irony is people who do this are just cock blocking themselves more and turning the club into an environment couples and ladies are less likely to return to.

It's find to show intrest. It's find to politely ask (although it's far better if you can just read the room and vibe in the first place). But a simple no should suffice. Respect it and don't turn into a Beg.

I’ve had this happen when in a private room before - men opening the door and strolling on in if there’s no lock or the handle repeatedly jiggling and them knocking if it is (when there is a no knocking sign on the doors 🙄) x

I didn’t realise it didn’t lock when choosing the room and it shouldn’t matter whether it locks or not a private room with the door closed should be enough to suggest the occupants don’t want anyone else in there

That's NOT the case in clubs. A locked door is the ONLY signal not to enter.

A closed door doesn't give or mean it's private, neither does an unlocked private sign unless the club specifically says do not enter if curtains doors are closed..

Again...most do not have such rules because they have lockable doors.

It's not on others to guess Your rules it's on you to know the locations rules and to ask if unsure.

And same for CJs as they have door locks! The couples room there is no door lock but has a closed door WHICH doesn't mean it's a private room.

We recently had a guy about 20 years past our age limit seem very annoyed when we rejected his request to join in mid play. He walked off saying "what's the point of paying to come here"

We have been in a area where I have sat in the entrance while Miss M has played with a guy and I've watched. All the guys were completely respectful of that , yet a woman pushed past and thought it was her right to join in.

It's always the person that's the issue, not necessarily the gender!

I’ll admit we aren’t regular club goers but have been to a few. I perhaps wrongly assumed that a closed door to a room would mean people wouldn’t try the door. He did say he was my husband and was still asked why they couldn’t enter

People, chancers, will always try the doors. Our experience has generally been that they open the door a bit too see how we react. There's been times when they've got lucky so I can see why they do it. Clubs can be funny places at times.

Club rules or not, basic etiquette would suggest a closed door means you don't want interrupting.

I wouldn't dream of venturing there!

It may be fine in principle to go and report them to management, but if you're mid-enjoying yourself and that means going to another floor to find a member of staff and completely breaking the mood... By which time the perpetrator will have moved on. You're not really going to spend the next 20 mins trying to find them! Obviously that depends of the severity of the issue.

There are always entitled people; we each pick our battles. It's just a shame the respect isn't there among everyone in this community.

The clubs we've been to have said closed door means people can open it and watch/ask if they can join in. But a lock door obviously means you don't want anybody else joining you.

I guess it's all down to the individual club rules.

Sadly single men often choose to ignore the rules, no matter what the club says. That’s why we prefer couples only nights.

perhaps clubs should have a do not disturb sign for the door handle
