Hello fellow Fabsters,

I have a question (one I know many have asked in posts in the past, but I am really at a loose end here)

I have used both veet for sensitive skin on my meow, I have also waxed for the last few months. With the veet I got chemical burns and the hair grows back too quickly With the waxing I have been getting ingrown hairs (which are unsightly and sore and last weeks they never seem to go away. I have been getting more and more of them each time I have been getting waxed)

Does anybody have any advise or help? I have also trimmed but that leaves me sore and it is time consuming.

I have no idea what to do. I feel very unsexy and unsightly with the in grown hairs

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't want to shave EVER but this/leaves me a bit of a problem.

Really? I have heard some horror stories that it burns the same way veet does....

I have to plan, if I'm going to Abfab, I need to very two days before to give the burns time to heal, by the time Abfab rolls around its like beard stubble...surely magic powder would be the same?

I have also found that the magic powder burns and leaves me sore and red which is not what anyone wants ,I myself am thinking aout getting wax ,any down points to that guys

I'm a recent convert to magic powder, and haven't experienced any burning - obviously can't say the same for everyone. I went for the aloe vera version and found it was fine, even on the very intimate bits

I am waxed from head to toe. To stop the in growing hair problem you need to exfoliate(not sure on the spelling)each and every time you shower. The rougher you are when doing this, the better the results. This does work and it was the advise I got from the salon where I am waxed. Hope this helps.

At first, no problems, now I have ingrown hairs galore, the hair does not grow out like it should, it curls round and round under the skin, resulting in a very painful unsightly red bump. I have not managed to get rid of all my ingrown hairs and feel very embarressed and unsexy. Not great when you want to go to a club...

Thus this thread. If I didn't get the ingrown hairs I would keep waxing. I don't like having hair down there. After six monthso f going Hollywood, there is nothing better. But I can't brave the ingrown hairs anymore...

Aloe vera magic powder is good i (kev) suffer with psorisis and sensitive skin and was fine for me and only £3.15 off e bay its worth a try

I have waxed completely for many years,I sometimes suffer with ingrown hais but had the same problem when i shaved.Just try not to pick at it or you will make it worse.Look on ebay for a product called TENDSKIN...it costs about £16 but lasts for absolutely ages.its a liquid and you just dab it on the infected part ,it comes to a head in a couple of days and you can tweeze the hair out.This can also be used as a prevention so i dab it on the day after iv been waxed

Yohoho, its so frustrating, I've been in bits about it. Nothing gets me as smooth as the waxing, and I fimd the hollywood is the best becuase they dp uou front and back.

But the ingrown hairs are horrid. I find the more I exfoliate and the harder, the more ingrown hairs I get. Not sexy at all.

We epilate and mr p also had a big problem with ingrown hairs until we upgraded to a better one. Now he may get the odd one that's all.

I used to get waxed but epilating has saved me so much money its well worth it

Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate all the way with waxing. Annoying and time consuming but works.

I've started using the magic powder and the trick is to know your own skin, and don't leave it on longer than 5 minutes , the regrowth us also less strong and no chair squirming itchy days

Yes it works for me.If i actually have an ingrowing hair then i dab some on and it goes into a sort of dry patch and then the hair will raise to the surface.As i stated in my post ,i use it for a prevention and hardly get any at all now.Have a word with the salon that you use,maybe they can advise you

Great advice. I've been getting lumps too. Think it's something to do with the hair getting softer and weaker and it can't break through the skin, going to try the exfoliation route and get some of that stuff mentioned further up, it's like the font of all info this place, who needs google!!!!

OMG shaving for me. Veet stings and stinks ). Waxing hurts and I certainly don't want ingrowing hairs and bumps on my vag . Good old fashioned shaving everytime

totally agree, exfoliation helps heaps, harder the better

I get the same problem occasionally, my salon sells Lycon ingrown-x-it solution spray which helps. Spray on morning and night. Reduces any redness and shrinks the bumps so you can tweeze the offending hair. Also exfoliating helps too xx

Iv waxed for yrs .... Wax myself now ! And all I do is exfoliate every time I shower . And use baby oil daily ! ... Result no ingrown hairs ! And all very smooth with the baby oil x

Check "verseo.com". They sell a home electrolysis kit for $90. Removal is permanent, but only of mature, visible, hairs. You have to repeat the treatment several times to kill all of the immature (sub-surface) hairs as they eventually appear. You can't kill it if you can't see it!

I'd skip all the home electrolysis/ laser kits, they don't work. A pro electro kit is about £4000, and an IPL set is/was nearer £40000, there's a reason for that.

Laser should work well on bikini line, takes a while though. Electrolysis would be hard core down there, ouch!
