Dogging - legal situation

Jump to newest

Since the weather is - hopefully - getting better anytime soon, I wanted to see if anyone here could tell me about the legal situation with dogging in this country (the UK).

Is it actually illegal to have sex in public?

I have heard of stories that the police actually showed up to dogging meet-ups in random locations and arrested people. Is that true/possible?

What would be the consequences of getting arrested for dogging?

Well, you see what I am interested in, any helpful advice/comment will be appreciated.

Save dogging everyone

In the UK there is currently a new sexual offences bill in the process of being approved and this will have an influence on sex in public places.

Currently UK dogging is mentioned in the sexual offences act under section 66 - Exposure and Section 67 - Voyeurism.

Got to be pretty stupid to get caught,as a dogger of many years i have watched and often joined in,as cars come and go you need to be switched on as to whats going on around you,a quick tap on the glass lets them know something is not right,as with walking away when cars are passsing,a police car is easily spotted.Unmarked, police acting as dogging cpls i have never come across so not 100% sure they operate.I have been in many carparks and have had police come to my car and ask what im doing there?everyone has to be somewhere is usually my reply, how can they argue with that.

My partner and I were caught in the act at a local dogging spot, both naked on the back seat of the car with penetration taking place. Though there was no one else about the police came in and threatened to arrest us for outraging public decency. We were however let off with out even a caution though I do suspect they have my car registration as they always have a chat if they see me parked up somewhere

if the police clamp down on it so much it will turn into a situation where any layby is used as a dogging spot and everyone is a suspect. do you agree with this random idea?

doggers are often respected professionals who take the risk anyway. giving them letters and crb citations wont help society one bit.

don't think for 1 min you would be put on the sex offenders register for having sex out doors, but then again never been caught

The only time you can get into trouble while in a dogging location is if you are caught with your pants down while engaging in any sexual practice. Also I believe if you are caught watching you can get into trouble for voyeurism. If you are sat in your car doing nothing you will be fine.

Why would you think that you would not be put on it if convicted of commiting a sexual offence?

I think a lot of the time its safer to go to a nice club like Eurekas. What you do in there is nothing to do with the police. Nice woods to walk in during the day and evening and super parties ... I have been spoken to the police on a few occasions when out and about dressed as a sexy TGirl, But there is nothing illegal in that. It's lewd behavior that they are looking for actual sex acts taking place. I don't go dogging when dark as I can't make out what a car is with its headlamps on until its upon you. Too risky. I only go dogging in daylight and nigh-time fun at clubs.

I plan to go to Eureka's next month for a weekend and also on the 15th June for the Saturday until Sunday. Anyone would to meet me there. Women, Tgirls.

Sex in public or anyone watching people having sex is only an offence if someone complains ..... In Scotland this would be Breach of the Peace but there must be a complainant ...... Unfortunately the police can be the complainants ... As for being put on sex offenders list ..... I wouldn't think so considering the act was between consenting adults and the people watching did not complain or were forced to watch or underage persons were involved ......
