"First iv heard of it.... Think I prefer the old way...." why? To me this way sounds less off putting as it doesn't involve any cutting or navigation around other important organs, but as I say, I am interested in hearing everyones thoughts

"Hysteroscopic sterilisation is a method of female sterilisation for women wanting permanent contraception. All I did was google hysteroscopic sterilisation. It has its risks the article said and there are various ways" Thank you Kytten. I have read all the info on the internet but was wondering if anyone had any experience of this, either themselves or a friend,

I must admit that the idea of having things put inside me is a bit freaky, but with other forms of tubal ligation, you would still have a clip or ring left inside. Im trying to find a solution for myself. I don't get on with hormones, I have a long term partner and we don't want to have children.

"Have any of you ladies had hysteroscopic sterilisation or know anyone that has. It is relatively new and I am interested in your thoughts." Not had this one but had the clips that involves 2 tiny cuts. Think someone had already said but i also had no problems or pain and was home the same day.x

"Its not fairly new... Have been doing lots of these and others for quite awhile. What do you want to know specifically? " Oh I thought it was fairly new. I was interested in the Essure, but really only because it seems to be the most widely used and I don't know much else about the other methods. I was just wondering about womens experiences of this, and other forms of tubal ligation to help me make a decision for myself. I appreciate the comments.

"Had surgery, tubes cut and tied back....ectopic pregnancy. Had one tube removed....got pregnant. Luck of the draw I guess." Sorry to hear that Senza. It is a worry and must have been a difficult time for you on both occasions. I am glad to hear that other posters have had a good result from their laparoscopies and lapartomies. Unfortunately no method of contraception is 100% but when you think about sterilisation it is easy to think of it being done and dusted after the procedure (which is a lovely thought) but unfortunately this wasn't the case for you Senza and you have my sympathies. Thank you all for your comments, your views are helping me form a more rounded opinion.

"A friend of mine had the Essure done about 2 years ago, she had no problems with it and recommends it. But if you read up on anything you will find the good and the horror stories. Any kind of medical procedure there is an element of calculated risk, and Essure doesn't seem any higher than any of the others. N" Im glad your friend has had a good result with this and would recommend it. Many thanks for posting.

"I had a laparoscopic sterlisation in November of last year. Smallish scar in my belly button and a small cross on my knicker line. I rested for approx 5 days post op, and didn't lift my son (Chunky is his nick name) as I did not want a hernia. I did take out my external dis-solvable stitches as they were driving me crazy, and they can take months to dissolve. I have more scar than I was expecting, however I am glad I did it, I already have children and do not want any more. It also meant I could have the mirena removed so I stopped gaining weight " Thanks for posting. It must have been hard to not pick the little one up for a week, bless him. Im sure the scar will get smaller as Novemeber wasn't long ago. Thank you all for sharing.
