According to University of Georgia, "Unprotected oral sex has been recommended as a form of safe sex".

Do you believe in the above statement classing oral sex either fellatio or cunnilingus as safe sex?

It's all relative. Safer, but not absolutely safe. And why limit a discussion of oral sex only to genital contact?(ahem, there's other areas to pleasure, as well)

As a medic myself i can say for sure that there is a risk of catching some infections through oral sex, so its not completely safe, but it is less risky that other forms of sex.... Saliva itself is not really a great place for infections to grow....just make sure you have good oral health and brush twice daily

the truth is somewhat different.

1/

PEOPLE - people define what they themselves do as "safe sex", but this definition varies from person to person.

2/

CONTRACEPTION - condoms are first and foremost always have been and always will be a form of contraception, albeit one that just happens to also somewhat reduce the risks of transmission of some types of infections in some circumstances

3/

INFECTION - doesn't really give a fuck what vector it uses to get from one host to another, oral sex in either direction is just as good as regular sex for many infections, even better than regular sex for many others.

4/

BULLSHIT - is what everyone talks when attempting to put items one to three inclusive into a personal policy that they are happy with, question their policy and you may as well question their religion, you will be dealing with a zealot

I do not think unprotected oral sex is method of safe sex even if it is classed as a lower risk sexual activity in regards to STIs. It still remains a propular method of spreading.Above statement by that uni is bollocks.

There is a high percentage of people on on here who do not use condoms during oral sex, they are still putting their health at risk.

There is currently a massive overstatement of the risk of HPV from oral sex and also getting oral cancer if you have required a HPV infection. Oral cancer related to HPV infections is excessive and should not be a concern so lets all carry on eating the pussy.

No. Seems too clinical & detached. Takes away from the full sensory pleasure of going down on the lady. One note: Rather than purchasing dental dams, dams can be constructed by cutting open a condom or latex glove. My understanding is if you leave a finger intact, you can also insert your tongue inside. But as I said, it's not my thing

The only safe sex is no sex at all! All forms of sexual activity carry some kind of risk, it's just up to the people involved how much they want to limit/increase their risk whilst having it. I use condoms for penetration but not for oral...that's the risk I choose to take because the enjoyment of giving a bj would be affected by using a condom
