We have a hand squeeze that we do if we think something is heading towards playing. One of us will squeeze the others hand twice, two squeezes back means yes lets go for it, one means no.

I would strike up a conversation and get them talking. Then join them and enjoy the created banter. Every so often slip in an inuendo about swinging or something similar. Watch for their reaction and then build upon any positive responses they tender.
