Yeah, I've looked at them and used them, but I usually check profiles first in case it says they ignore or bulk-delete winks, just so I'm not deliberately wasting my time or theirs.

I think winks are good for helping initiate a more detailed conversation, as they can sometimes help ‘test the waters’, but it's not for everyone.

Personally we look at every wink, will wink back if interested but mostly they don't follow up with a message. Messages with substance are most likely to get a reply.

If we followed them up that would involve reading the winkers profile to see if there was interest or commonality and then sending a message back so maybe 3 minutes per profile say. Multiply this by 100 winks that's 5 hours without any ongoing interaction. We get less, but enough messages which we prefer.

I occasionally look at them, but nine times out of ten it shows they haven't read all the profile

but am I right in thinking if you leave them where they are, they can't wink you back again, whereas if you delete them they get to wink you again after 30 day?

Our bio says what we do with winks.

Single men, delete, send a message instead.

Couples, winks to indicate interest and follow up with a message after.

If people either don't read the bio, or don't respect our preferences, how can we trust them in play?

Winks are nice yet can be viewed as a little lazy. We have sent them when short on time (say neighbour knocks on the door) yet try to accompany with a message and attachments ...

The approach I take is; I read the profile and if they don't say no winks, and I like what I see, I'll send a wink.

If they wink back, I message and see where it goes.

I've had some fantastic meets that all started with a wink.

A wink is merely an introduction, and is followed up with our face pics if the wink is reciprocated.

We're just reluctant to send endless inquiry messages with our face pics attached to profiles that 9 times out of 10 end up being fake.

We state on our profile we don't look or reply to winks yet still the numbers rise everyday. Just shows people don't read profiles. We used to reply to them but 99.9% of the time our message back was ignored, hence we don't waste our time with them anymore. Plus surely if you have read a profile and you are what they are looking for is a message not the way forward rather than a lazy wink wanting them to construct the message? All seems strange. As the saying goes, you get out of life what you put into it and all that jazz

We use them. If we wink and get one back we send a message. However it seems many others don’t do this if we wink back nothing ever seems to come of it. Shame really as it’s a great way to see if others are interested

Personal preference. I like a wink, I will sometimes wink to show my initial interest or attraction to a profile. Of course I would look at profile first to see if they specifically say no winking. If I get a wink back then I would put the effort in with a message.

If you leave the wink, they cant wink again for 30 days. If you delete it then they can wink right away.

Unsure if winking to a wink will allow to wink again as gone to messages by then.

As others have said, they can be a great way of initiating a contact, especially if the profile in question doesn't give much (any) information on which to base a more detailed message.
