What's the difference messaging on here or on different platforms like Kik, snapchat etc.

We get a few want to move straight to these apps rather than chat on here. Does the same stuff surely?

On here your contact personal contact details are hidden and this is a safe messaging way.

Other platforms eg. WhatsApp you’ve given out your phone number so more susceptible to stalking or similar.

I also find once you start speaking to a new friend via WhatsApp that they get suggested as a person you may know on Facebook so your privacy is eroded even more.

I understand other message services could be more secure but I’ll stick with here thanks.

When chatting with couples on here, it's impossible to determine who you're actually talking with. How invested they both are, or whether the chat is being wholly driven by one (usually the guy).

Once we've established an initial interest, we move on to Telegram. It's safe, no phone numbers and allows you to control your message history and interactions. It also has push notifications, so you can interact much more in real time.

If Fab offered a better chat mechanism, we wouldn't need to do this.

It works for us.

I've recently had someone I met ages ago and spoke to via WhatsApp show up on my suggested friends on Facebook. We lost touch ages ago but I never took his number off my phone. I have now though.

I’ll move to Snap/Kik to ensure that the person I’m talking to is legit after a little bit of chat. Anyone who rushes me to take the conversation off Fab sends alarm bells ringing.

Using an off site app once things are developing can help prove the other parties are legitimate and make keeping in contact easier.

The downside can be a breach of privacy such as revealing phone numbers and other social media platforms etc.

I use Telegram as if you get the settings right no personal details are reveealed.

Generally my experience has been anyone pushing to go straight to other sites , especially email, usually has other motives, often turning the conversation to unsavoury topics, illegal stuff etc.

We prefer to message on what's app or telegram it's just so much easier to have a 3/4 way conversation rather than us having to do it here and signing off it just flows better elsewhere.

I always think if a man asks me to move to kik or snapchat, it's because they want more pics.Especially if v early on in a chat.

So I won't move chat away from here. If I knew I wanted to meet someone after chatting a while, I'd happily give them my telegram.

Couples and single women get so many messages on here and any message I might send is going to get lost in a sea of others and a woman has to log on to read it bringing another load of messages just because she has been on the site. Chatting on telegram is far more efficient especially if arranging meets etc . Clearly not everyone is going to want to do that and that's ok but it takes down the efficiency to a point when it can be unworkable and increases likelihood of it not actually progressing.

But surely you still cant be sure whos messaging you at the time?

I prefer on here, used to give my number or snapchat out and it could get constant with my phone going off all the time, at least on here i can just come on and see if i have any messages at my leisure and not have my phone beeping constant
