I use a manscaoed trimmer and I've ended up with a rather angry ingrown hair and just above the shaft

Any tips for clearing and prevention?

Hair removal is a very personal thing and what works for one person may not suit another. I have had the occasional ingrown pubic hair after shaving, best treated by digging it out with a sterile syringe needle. I’ve never had problems after waxing or plucking so you might try that, and it lasts a lot longer too.

I'll try exfoliating before anything surgical

If I leave it too long I fear a dreadlock may just burst out.

Last time I had one of these it grew to nearly 3 inches and there was pus.. you are best advised to extract it now, break the skin and let it out. Get your wife to tie your hands to the bed and let her do it…

Take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

*or use tweezers......
