So over the last year or 2 we have noticed a decline in the sex drive of my wife. We Initially put this down to her taking on a full time job and increased exercise sessions depleting her energy levels. This picked up for a while and at the beginning of this year she started a bit of a fwb arrangement with another guy. All openly discussed between us and very exciting while it lasted. This arrangement didn't last long due to issues with his partner. Things between us have been great apart from over the last few months her sex drive hit an all-time low. Due to age we assumed possible menopause symptoms kicking in on top of the work/gym . However She recently had a health issue that required blood tests. Results came back as a severe vitamin D deficiency. Looking into this and symptoms linked to it could this be the cause of her diminished sex drive. Has anyone here gone through similar and had a drop in sex drive caused by a vitamin deficiency? She is now on high dosage to get her levels back up. I'm hoping this not only sorts out her health issue but gets her back to her old ways.

Or it could be that this doesn't excite her as you both hoped.

Yes 42. We did suspect peri/menopause but looking into the symptoms it's very similar with a Vitamin D deficiency.

Stress has the ability to effect unexpectedly. Relaxation is important for the body and mind and blank out any thoughts (meditation)

What other symptoms did she have then as you’ve only mentioned a lack of sex drive

I have Vit D deficiency. It has affected me in a few ways but not affected my sex drive.

Is your wife concerned with the way her sex drive is affected? Or is she happy with the way things are?

Vitamin D deficiency can cause all sorts of issues. Also, has her B12 level been checked because a deficiency can definitely cause fatigue, depression and brain fog amongst other symptoms?

Good luck

She went to the doctor as she had recently had a couple of things concerning her, each required seprerate appointment. The two main issues were hair loss large bald patch and general thinning and also a shoulder issue that was had been taking a very long time to rectify itself and causing loss of feeling in her hand. The bloods were taken to investigate the hair loss. When the results came she was called back into the doctors. The Nurse/practitioner was amazed that my wife was still managing to carry on full time work and train 4/5 times per week. And doing her daily 1 hour walk either to or from work. But now as we look back over the last months the various other symptoms she has also had that we figured may be peri menopause were most likely down the the deficiency. She has also had periods of low mood, fatigue , insomnia, and also lack of sex drive. On rediing into various deficiency it's been been that vitamin D can affect testosterone levels in men and estrogen in women and causing a drop in sex drive. Also a symptom of the vitamin d deficiency is muscle recovery and repair. This explains why shoulder has been taking so long to sort itself out. So I was simply wondering if anyone else here had noticed a drop in sex drive with vitamin deficiency.

It's a bit too easy to blame hormones.

Have a look at other forms of intimacy that may need replenishing between you, you might find taking the focus of sex and moving it to creating connection helps ??

If the supplements don't help that is.

I (Mr) have had up / down year, got to see the doctor and can second the B12 can really mess with you, mine was below 100 which is pretty low. 5 doses in 9 days and boosters every 3 months has helped but I can tell when it's nearing booster time again, hope she finds her mojo
