I'm interested in trying Candle wax but I've heard they need to be a certain type I.e. low temp. Can anyone suggest a brand / stockist? Dont really know what I'm looking for.

Google ‘low temperature candles’ find the link to the Amazon page for low temperature candles, buy low temperature candles off Amazon.

Google and Amazon are a couple of small, up and coming companies that not many people have heard of so not surprising you didn’t know to look there.

Please only use specific wax play candles you can find them on Amazon, Etsy and (read the reviews)

Please don't use actual candles, they burn at a higher temperature and will cause burns.

Are the specific wax play candles the same as the low temperature candles that he mentioned in the OP?

I wouldn’t risk Amazon - Etsy will be your best bet, or LoveHoney/Bondara etc. Kandles by Kitten is an Etsy seller I’d recommend.

Thanks everyone. Didn't want to assume what I'd been told was correct without checking first.

If you just want to try it out then use tea candles. Cheap and can get anywhere. Used then loads of times.

The temp isn't as important as you might think. If the candle has a higher melting temp just drip it from higher up.

It cools on the way down. You can test the best height on the back of your hand, if you are too low you will know

The useful thing with using made-for-purpose ones is that the shape is usually concave at the top so you can get a well of melted wax ready to go. And the low-temp (usually mid-50s) burn means nervous newbies have nothing to worry about.

Kandles by kitten are great!!! We love playing with UV wax.... check out our pics

Things to remember....

-A good ground / bed sheet to catch the wax

-Have an implement to 'scrape' off the wax.

-Apply oil to the person/area going to receive the wax as it's helps the wax come off after

-Hold the candle quite far away from the body on first drop - like maybe a metre... you can always bring it in closer if the heat is bareable (the time it takes to drop helps cool the wax.. so further away is cooler)

-Have a Hoover nearby if possible .... clean up is a bitch!!!

Enjoy x

Genuine query; what’s the problem with coloured wax?

They sell them on Trussed.

Not sure what the problem is with coloured candles? Different colours are different temperatures (all safe) you just got to find the one that suits you & partner

You don't have to avoid coloured candles if you buy them from a place specialising in kink play.

However as a general ... coloured and scented high street candles will come with additives in that could react with the skin but will also make the candle burn hotter

We have one from love honey that burns into a hot massage oil. I'd highly recommend it.

Be wary of cheap low temp candles

I (Mr) bought some on Amazon that arrived saying “Low temp candles” which has a sexy picture on and then a load of Chinese writing

Well low temp my ass. They burnt Mrs and were basically like molten plastic.

She was not impressed,

Kinda ruined the moment lol

That’s good news as I’ve just ordered a set of six from here.

Initial ones we got (from local shop SinSins) are a bit small to hold but were a tester for whether we enjoyed it or not

They don't *need* to be, but it's recommended, especially if just starting out.

We got out from either Love Honey or Simply Pleasure, I think. There's a pic on our profile.

I go to Etsy for mine. I've not had a problem with coloured wax candles, they have of course been BDSM/kink friendly candles.

I have to say I found it amazing I love wax play.

The other thing I haven’t seen mentioned - test the temperature on your own inner forearm regularly, get a sense of what your partner will be experiencing and make sure you don’t burn them.
